The above is H verbatim copy of the b-tter
that was sent to Kbt-.nsbmy, and the affair
seemed so very plausible that Mr. K., who
was to be a witness lefore an arbitration ou
Saturday, was anxious to liave the suit con
tinued until another time and failing in
this, insisted that it should come off in the
forenoon instead of in tho afternoon.' The
arbitrators would not accommodate him,
and hence he was saved the trouble oE jour
neying down to Fast Coneiuaugh, although
he sent, specific irstrnctions that a place, in
the Team should be reserved for him.
On Saturday evening, upon the arrival of
tin Way Passenger train at Kast, Cone
tiiaugh, two young gentlemen tnieht have
been seen (as an eminent defunct novelist
was wont to iemark) rapidly alighting and
rushing into the. ticket-office. One of these
was a namesake of the preat. netion-wnter

Then the eminent marksman looked pen

"Let's gu mi to Johnstown, iind take tho

of F. Ii. P..
So they came down, and admired the sce

Philadelphia Ks press came along, when
they returned. The place that. M. i- in

The funny part of this story is that the
gentlemen whose signatures were appended
to the letter rif invitation did not know any
thing in relatioii to the matter; and we are
inclined to believe that Idl. was right when
he pronounced it "ndamfoTgcry." Johns

of the first Mass ever offered in St. Iletie-

the manor born, Key. Anthony Wertnor, son
of Mr. neiij.iuiin Wcrtner, One of the most
