pondents last week admonishes me to lie
brief, and as I have not much to say, I shall

A dispute between Johnstown and Conc
mnugli boroughs has been carried on for sev
eral years in regard to Itoniulary lines and
watercourses, which has lately 'culminated
in a lawsuit or two. It is not likely that
this difference of opinion will ever lie set
tled more easily than by uniting all our bor-
thry are now paying their employes. It is!

the lecture we still entertain our former
opinion, Mr. Douglass to the contrary not
withstanding ; yet we are free to admit
that the earnestness ami eloquence of his
defender and apologist, are we'd worthy an
attentive bearing and a cindid considera
tion. Mr. Douglass is a man of more than
ordinary intelligence, which fact was well
known and widely recognized long before
we said anything ab;-ut iN and being portly
and prepossessing in appea:adce, and the
possessor of a voice, gestures and freedom
we name twoof the most respecled citizens
of action in keeping w ith tho role of a pub
lic lecturer, as well as a good talker and a
lather witty one, he is certainly an orator
well worthy of many hearers wherever he
