occurred l:t Friday evening at the house
of a friend in Pleasant ville, Vest cluster

peculiarly sad and distressing, and forcibly
recall to our mind the exclamation of the

T'a't there are several men of both politi

position is a fact which was nif.de painful
ly apparent at the very commencement of

i this lower grade were not select d by the
usual t licks and appliances so well under
stood in dihtiict and county conventions,
but were deliberately nominated by the
Philiolelphia Padical Convention and the

the lest men in the State of each pa-.ty.
Ccns- ieuous among that class of delegates
to which we have alluded is William

Whatever agency Mr. Greeley's crush

may have had iu causing the malady w hich

that it, added to the sleepless nights which

to endure, and the silver cord of his life
vtt rudely snapped asunder.
By common consent, Horace Greeley
was the foremost journalist in the coun
