corroCt, and we trust the new candidate for
public pn'i'on-iae will be liberally sustained, as
its initial number gives evidence of being well
deserving cf a generous support.
Wny 'Not l)o Ii? We have already rpeken
of the recent eiilaromcnt of the Hariislturg
Weekly Patriot, aud cf its greatly enhanced
value as '.literary, political and pencral news
Journal, and in connection therewith have urge 1
upon our patrons the propriety of getting up
clubs for the Patbiot and the Freimax, both
of which wiil be furnished in clubs of twenty
to old cr new subscribers at the low price of
$3 for the two papers, and a copy of each sent
fhee to the person petting tip the club. The
Pateigt is specially de-irable on account of
bci.'.g published at the Stato Capital s which.
enables it to furnish fail reports ot the Legis
lative proceedings, and also to secure all infor
mation relative to governmental afi'iirs which
are of interest to the peop'e of the State. In
view of thesl facts and of its position as the
central orcan of the Democracy , to gay nothing
of its literary merits, it deserves we!l of our
readers, and hence we ask why not at once cet
up clubs for the Patbiot and the FreesIa on
the very liberal torn: 3 we h tve named? Won't
some of our earnest fiiend3 make the effort?
Takh it to Torn IIomk. It is so much the
fashion nowadays to convev'information, sr.l
I moral troth and sentiment, in the form of
stories, that even some popular lecturers have
ndopted this style of address. The ma; of
people, especially tho youns demand stories to
such a degree, tl at papers filled with sensation
al hovels and excit'ng. trashly stuff, have a
wide circulation. To forestall this tas'e, and
supply something better to the masses, the pub
lihers of Hearth and Home, in addition to
the usual variety of that paper, have engaged
a corps of first class writers, among whom are
Jean Ingelow, Edward Kgg!ston, Mary E
Dodge. Louisa M. Aleott, Edward Everett
Hale, Elisabeth Stur.rt Phc'rs. Harriett Pres
oott SDofTor.l, Rose Terry Maria R. O.tiley,

pure character and high grade thus convening
much ii.struc'ion in u pleasing form. Besides
these, the weekly Hiilth and IL sie cortains
a large amount of first class reading, editorials,
littr .ture. art, science; amusement; instruction
for the housekeeper, the gardener, the farmer;

the nows of the day; financial and market re
ports, etc. I !.s engraving, costing ever
0 !(l a year, are of a high order of merit, un
surpassed by any illustrated p-per in the w-rld.
Altogether, Heaiith and Home is such a j ur
nal as may be safely and very profitably taken
into any family. It is auppi'ed at. the low rate

the master-mind of the world-renowned Dick

scented flowers culled from a thickly-strewn

n skillful band into an exquisite bo)uet,
worthy to bo placed in the pr.rland of litera
