when anything is to be. contributed to assist
a good cattnc, it should be a free gift, with

some fiucy article or other, but the fact re
mains that Fairs are popular, and that mon

f-eems to bosons'? iscitinjr influence which
men exercise over each other when assembled
in large numbers, which prompts to commit
acts and incur expenses which they would

time past the most singular and extraor

difTetent parts of the heavens, which have
occasioned no little amount of comment,
among scientific men. For example, the
aurora, boreali?, which usually appears iu
north only, or something resembling it,
has been seen in the east and other por

like appearance, quite diiietent from its
usual color. On a recent Thursday, about
midnight, si black belt, seemingly about
three i'ect in width, stretching from the
north to the south, over the entire heaven?,
was visiblo. It remained for several
minutes aud then faded gradually awy.
These manifestation?, it seems highly
probable, are nothing less than a fultil

ominous of the near approach of i input
