Some people are m re content without
a first class sensation, arid Juhnstown has a
goodly number of such people among its fif
teen or hixteen thousand inhabitants. The
hist attempt to produce a sensation comes in
the shape of a petition to the Legislature
ar-kin for an rxtensin of jurisdi tion fr
the Uistiict durt at Johnstowp. and also a
protest, if we are rightly informed, against
the erection t-f the new county prison already
commenced in this place. We shall see

IMPROVED
BEE HIVE.
r The unilerrigned has secured letters patent
of tbe United States, dated December 14, Ii 9,
for an improvement iu the construction ot liee
Hives, and claims for bis invention advant.-tgea
possessed by no other heretofore patented.
The principal feature of this Hee Hive is the
arrangement by means of which ii is thorough
ly veuiilnted, thus precluding the posi-ibilitjt of
the bees smothering, '.he comb moulding or the
honey souring. This desirable end is accom
plished by a vertical perforated tube, running
centrally through the iiire aud open at the 'op
and bottom. All persons interested in apicul
ture will at once see the great advantages se
cured ir. this Miiprovemenl. The ventilator is
for the increase ot bees
The peculiar construction of tbe box, partic
ularly in the arrangement of the inner com
partments, whereby it can be cleaned at any
time without disturbing the bees, is another
valuable improvement which will lie obvious
to any person who examines ibis Hive. An
examiatio:i of the workings of the bees or the
condition of the interior can be made at anr
time, as the shies are cased with glass. Bee
can be trasl'erred from a different hive to the
improved one without any difficulty whatever.
It would require too much space to enumerate
here all the advantages claimed in this iut en
lion, but full information wid be promptly fur
nirhed by applying in person or by letter to tha
patentee. 1 am now j repared to dispose of
territory f -r the sale of the Improved Bee Hire
in any portion of the United States. '
