The house of Mrs. Huey, widow of Samuel IIuey,of M ut gomery township, was burned on Thursday night of last week, a son of the widow, aged ten years, peri.-hir.g in the fhimep. It ap pears that some time after the family, con sisting vf Mrs. lluey and several children, had retired to re.-.t in the upper portion of the house, Mrs. H. wis roused from her slumber by a sufll eating smell of smoke in her room, and j. imping out of lied, discovered that the lower portion of the building was in flames. She immediately aroused the chil dren, who hast-ried to escape fiom the burn ing building. They all succeeded in getting out except the hid referred to, who, it is supposed, was stupefied by tho heat and smoke. One cf the brothers made a heroic effort to rescue the unfortunate boy, but failed, and w as himself severely burned and was only saved from an awful death by tho almost Eiipeihiimau strength of the mother who dragged him from tho flames.
