Mrs. Thos. H. Norris, of East Em
porium, who has been ill for a long
time was taken to a hospital at Buffalo
last Sunday.
Thos. Moore came down from St,
Msrys last Thursday to witness the
game of ball between St. Marys and
Emporium.
Theo. Haberstock has purchased the
Piper property opposite St. Marks
Catholic Church. The deal being clos
ed on Sept. 16tb.
Mr. and Mrs. John Klein, of Wil
liamsport, were guests at the home of
F. P. Rentz and family on Fourth
street last Sunday.
Tim. Ganey and family, of Wilcox,
have been visiting at the home of his
mother and sisters in town for several
days the past week.
C. G. Minick, of the Elk Tanning
Company, left yesterday for Mellen,
Wisconsin, on a business trip for the
United States Leather Company.—

Charles Papazoni, formerly chemist
for the Keystone Powder Manufactur

ing on friends and renewing acquaint

Clifford Johnston, who has been
working in the office of the Novelty
Incandescent Lamp Co., has resigned
his position and accepted a more lucra
tive one in the ofHce of the B. & S. R.
R., at Galeton.
Mrs. M. A. Rockwell attended the
wedding of her grand-daughter, Miss
Marcia Howard and Mr. W. S. Roth
fuss, at Williamsport, last Wednesday
evening. Mrs. Rockwell returned
home on Thursday.
Lyman Wylie made Ridgway a visit

Josiah Fisher visited at Ridgway last

Mrs. J. Slaigle, of Sheffield, a former
resident of this place, transacted busi
ness here the last of the week.
Miss Murphy, who was guest of her
sister, Mrs. Kathryn Bush, returned to
her home at Dußois, last Saturday.
Miss Kate Metzger departed for
Oberlin, Ohio, last Tuesday, where she
lias entered the conservatory of music.
W. J. Anderson has finished the sea
son with the Wichita, Kansas, base ball
team, and has returned to Emporium.
E. D. Gardner, of Renovo, division
operator, on the P. R. R., was a busi
ness caller at Emporium, last Satur
day.
Miss Marion Judd returned home
on Saturday after spending the sum
met at Chicago and other western
cities.
Miss Encie Howard returned home
last Friday from Williamsport, where
she attended the Howard— Rothfuss
wedding.
Mrs. John Farrell was called to
Kane one day last week, on account of
the serious illness ot her son-in-law,
George Ray.
Donald Erskine, of Hammondsport,
N. Y., was guest at the home of
his brother, B. J. Erskine and family,
the last of the week.
Miss Grace Rentz returned to her
home at Muncy, Pa., last Friday, after
spending a week, the guest of F. P.
Rentz and family.
Mrs. C. O. Meixel and children, of
Sinnamahoning, were business callers
at Emporium, last Thursday, and call
ed at the PRESS office.
P. R. Beattie, Jr., who was called
here by the death of his father, return
ed to his home at Beechwood, N. 8.,
on Wednesday morning.
Miss Muriel Swartz, who has been at
Niagara Falle for several months, re
turned home last week, and is confined
to her home with typhoid fever.
Miss Christina Fledderman, of St.
Marys, returned to her home on Tues
day after spending a few days with
her sister, Mrs. Edward Blinzler.
Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Keira, Sr., of St.
Marys, were guests of their son, Fred
Jr., last Wednesday. Fred celebrated
his (?) birthday on that day.
A. W. Whiting and bride arrived in
Emporium last Thursday evening.
Mr. Whiting is employed as a packer
at the Keystone Powder Works.
Miss Jettie Wiley is spending the
week at Buffalo. Miss Wiley accom
panied Mrs. T. H. Norria to the hos
pital and will spend some time with
her.
The Grand Union Tea Co., has
secured as their representative agent,
Herkie Jones to succeed O. E. Nellis.
Mr. Jones understands the business
and desires to please the people.
Miss Vera Geary returned home from
Cleveland last Saturday evening, and
has accepted the position as maker, In
the millinery store of Mrs. E. S.
Coppersmith.
Misa Mildred Green returned from
Cleveland last Monday. Miss Green
has acccepted a position with the
Misses Ludlam for the fall and winter
millinery season.
E. H. Gregory and family returned
on Thursday from a two weeks visit,
five days of which was spent at Atlan
tic City, and the balance of the time
was taken up among relatives in New
York State.
Daniel Downey and wife returned
home on Saturday from an eight weeks
visit with relatives and friends at Wil
liamsport, Harrieburg, Strasburg and
other eastern points. They had a de
lightful trip but were glad to get back
home.
Mrs. M. Garvin and daughter Flor
ence and eon Earl of Kustis, Neb., are
visiting with Mrs. Garvin's mother,
Mrs. G. Morse and sister, Mrs. J. R.
Fetter, of this place. It has been 25
years since mother and daughter have
met. Mrs. Fetter visited her sister 23
years ago when she lived at Farnam,
Neb.
Mr. F. X. Blnmle and Master Kahrl,
leave for New York Friday to take in
the Hudson-Fulton Expedition; also to
meet the Misses Blumle who will ar
rive at New York Saturday on the
"Americaka'' from Hamburg, Ger
many.
Mrs. Elmer Klock is guest of Mrs.
Oliver Darling, of Buffalo, N. Y.
