Alice Greenalch, aged about 14 years, daughter of Win. Greenalch, died in the Williamsport- hospital last Wednesday morning, where she was taken for treat ment, and brought home Friday morning. Logue who promptly gave the ; alarm, thereby preventing a total loss ot' the house, only one side of the roof being badly burned. John was away attend ing to the duties ol mail carrier from the P. ()., to the B. ct S. It. It., trains, but his son Fred proved to be "Johnny on the spot as the saying goes, and got the fire out in a sort time. A daughter of Art Mahon and wife was so badly burned at their home in Hammersley, the fore part of last week as to cause her death in a few hours. Funeral services were held here on Thursday and burial made in the ceme tery at this place. She was five years and eight months of age. The accident was caused by some children playing with matches. Tony Mancuso, section boss at this place is smiling over the arrival of a little daughter at his home near the lj. & S. depot on last Wednesday night. A good deal of all kinds of fruit has bnen blasted by the long continued wet weather in May, and the farmers have been so put hack by it that it will take a long warm fall-for corn and other crops to mature. Decoration Day was very poorly at tended here on account of the bad weather. M.J. Logue cut his hand very badly on Monday while engaged in killing a j veal, and it is causing him sonic trouble. | Ed. Caldwell is working in Gore's | blacksmith shop at Sinnamahoning. Nup SED. MORE HILL. The social held last Saturday evening for the benefit of the M. E. church on More Hill, was in many ways the most | successful ever held here. The receipts for the evening were §25, which is in ex cess ol what is usually made at one of these gatherings on the Hill. Much credit is due the following ladies who have always |been very much interested in this litttle church and who have al ways stood by it: .Mrs. ltay Lyon, Mrs. Beldin, Mrs. Itoss, Mrs. Speoht, Mrs. Ishman, Mrs Brooner, Mrs. Seibert, Mrs. Iluber, Mrs. Johnson and many others who were present. The large number of young men who came from the different lumber camps, deserve much credit for the manly way in which they conducted themselves dur ing the evening. Come again, boys, we will always be jjlad to see you and try and treat you especially when you want to take a guess on the cake.
