Miss Pearl Lewis, of Buffalo, is visit ing in town guest of Alex McDougall and family. Mrs. Wm. Fuller, of Norwalk, Ohio, is guest of her sister, Mrs. W. C. Blair and family, at this place. J. W. Norris, our up-to-date livery man, accompanied by Mr. A. Johnson were PRES.* business callers yesterday. W. C. Blair, who is engaged with J. R. Droney Lumber Co., at Watoga, W. Va., is home visiting his family for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Day and children who have been visiting friends in Potter county for some time returned home on Saturday. Mrs. R. C. Dodson and daughters Mary and Aves visited relatives at Austin last Saturdaay. Mrs. N. J. Proudfoot, of Milesburg. who has been visitng her son Orville and family the past six weeks returned to her home on Tuesday. Arch F. Farr and Marshall Barr, of Bennetts Branch, transacted business in Emporium on Saturday. The form er called at the PRESS office. Mrs. Mahlon Zurbrick and son Gor don, have returned to their home in Buffalo after several weeks visit with Mrs. Zurbricks' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Parker. Mrs. Jas. Hobson. wife of our excell ent West Creek farmer, was a PRESS visitor on Saturday, renewing their PRESS for another year. She is always prompt, to the day. Mrs. Editha "Howard, Mr. Godfrey Howard, Miss Marcia Howard, Miss Marian Rothruss and Mr. Carl Roth rusa, all of Williamsport, visited the former's mother, Mrs. M. A. Rockwell, Saturday and Sunday. Rev. Oliver S. Metzler, pastor of Mul berry street M. E. Church, Williams port, visited in Emporium several days last week, being cordially greeted by his old friends, whom he faithfully served five years. Our good friend, whose friendship we prize highly, was a PRESS visitor. Miss Stella M. Tebo entertained a large party of little lady and gentle men friends on Saturday afternoon from two to seven, there being 76 in attendance. Of course they all enjoy ed the party. Miss Stella was the recipient of numerous valuable pres ente and a neat sum of money. The occasion was Miss Tebo's return to school at St. Marys for a term of ten months. During the evening a dance was given to the older friends. Miss Mary Winters also accompanies Miss Stella to school. George Ilockley has returned from Pittsburg to reside. Chas. Ivresgp, of Dußoin, transacted busii ess in town yesterday. Mrs M. L. Cummings baa returned from visiting friends at Mt. Jewett. A H. Shafer came down from Ridg way last evening to attend Masonic lodge. Geo. iiurteau, wife and son, of 11am mersley Fork, are visiting in town for a few days. We regret that North Creok and Grove Hill letters arrived too late for this issue A. N. Vodaok, of Austin, was in town this week, looking after his West Fourth street property. Landlord Dolan, of City Hotel, has made great improvements on his popu lar house. Very neat. Miss Enuna Smutz, visited her brother G. J. Smutz over Sunday 011 her way to her Philadelphia school. Miss Vida Lyman, of Austin, and Miss Zoella Mason, of Sterling Run, was visiting Minnie Morsaihia week. Mrs. E. K. Forbes visited Johnson burg on Tuesday, called there on ac caunt of the serious illnesss of Mrs. Theo. Hudson. JolinT. Ilertig, the Keystone Powder Company's master mechanic, was a PRESS cal'er 011 Saturday and made ye editor happy. Myrtle Lloyd, who has been visiting her relatives for the past month in Shainokin and Wrightsville, returned home on the llyer this afternoon. Miss Hattie liussell, who will teach at Mt. Jewett this winter, stopped in town over Sunday, on her return from N. J. The PRESS follows her. Cashier T. B. Lloyd, who was pain fully injured Aug. 11th by falling on the stone walk in front of his residence has resumed work at First National Bank. Mr. Jos. L. Wheeler and wife and Mrs. E. M. Hurteau have returned from their Ontario silver mining claim to visit at home for a couple of weeks. Burgess R. M. Overhisher, accom panied by his daughter, Mrs. Geo. Metzger, Jr., and her three children, are attending the Overhiser family re union at Keuka Lake. Invitations are issued by Hon. and Mrs. L Taggart announcing the ap proaching marriage of their daughter Byrde Leona to Mr. George Herman Deike, Wednesday evening, 7:30 at Presbyterian Church. Mrs. L. S. Hinkle, Wilcox, and Mrs. J. B. Hinkle, Lima, 0., were guests of Mrs. Lizzie Hinkle on Monday. Mrs. Hinkle went to Wilcox yesterday to visit with her sisters before they leave for Indian Territory oil fields. Mrs. A. A. McDonald, having re gained her usual health has gone to Omaho. Neb., to visit her brother and family. Accompanied by her sister-in law, she is going to Col., to visit her daughter Miss Sarah, to remain all winter. This is good news for their many Emporium friends. Ye editor sends his best regards and well wishes to all, including Mr Mcßae. Mrs. J. S. Douglas, of Olean, visited her many Emporium friends last week, before starting for Puerto Rico, where her son Don is now located, joined by her daughter, Miss Mildred. They sail next Saturday. Mr. Douglas will also leave for Puerto Rico next Jan. They are interested in a fruit plantation. V. A. Brooks, of Sinnamahoning, for many years one of our most re spected citizens and a constant PRESS subscriber, was a welcome visitor on Tuesday. He always believes in keep ing the printer paid ahead and deposit ed tv/o years subscription. Mr. Brooks is looking exceedingly well. H. L Reedy, of Hillsgrove, Pa., form erly a resident of Emporium and an industrious employee of Emporium tannery, visiting in town over Sunday, guest of Mr. and Mrs. Dunn. Miss Mar garet Dunn, who has been visiting Mr. Reedy and family at Hillsgrove, returned home with him, after a de lightful visit. Mrs. J. S. Douglas, Mrs. Katie Tough and Mrs. J. H.
