Mrs. Jas. J. Dougherty returned last
Sunday from an extended visit with
relatives at Bradford.
W. L. Thomas, commissioners clerk,
left Tuesday evening on a visit to
Philadelphia. He expects to be absent
several days.
Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Gourley and two
children of Brockwayville spent Sun
day in town guests of Mrs Gourley's
brother, Dr. D. C. Groves.
M. B. Epley and wife, of Sinnama
honing, spent Sunday with Mrs.

Frank Moon who was stricken with
paralysis sometime ago continues to
fail and the end is expected at any
moment, we are sorry to learn.
W. J. Leavitt returned on Monday
from a visit on the First Fork, where
he was looking over his political
fences. Billy is a sure winner.
Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Strawbridge and
daughters Hester and Qenevive, of
YVilliamsport, visited over Sunday with
J. R. Strawbridge and wife at Sterling
Run.
W. Swanson made the PRESS a busi
ness call on Wednesday. Mr. Swanson
is in the employ of C. B. Howard Co.,
and is one of their best men. Call
again friend.
Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Wheeler who have
been spending the summer at Hailey
bury, Can., where Mr. Wheeler has
mining interests spent the past week
in town, returning to Canada Wednes
day.
R. H. Hirsch was one of the con
ferees from this district to the Demo
cratic Judicial Conference held at Lock
Haven Tuesday. He was chosen as
one of the secretaries.
Hon. Geo. J. Laßar and wife,
accompanied by four of their grand
children (Geo. and Carl Rishell
and Misses Eunice and Blanche Diehll
left on Wednesday for Shickshinning,
Pa., where they will attend a family
reunion. They expect to take a few
days at Atlantic City before returning.
It was at Shickshinny that Judge La
Bar enlisted in a cavalry company at
the outbreak of the civil war and fought
to preserve this union until Gen. Lee
surrendered. The brave old veteran
deserves a little vacation.
