Chas. L. Rutler came over from Port
Allegany on Saturday and visited with
his family and many friends over

Mrs. Rose Sage, of Johnsonburg, who
has been visiting friends in Emporium,
left for Altoona where she will reside
permanently.
Miss Maud Steck entertained several
of her friends last Friday evening in
honor of her guest Miss Agnes Young,
of Williamsport.
Mrs. D. C. Hayes and son Leo re
turned home from Wyoming county
Tuesday, whore they attended the
funeral of Mrs. Hayes' mother.
E. F. Comley and daughter Masie,
of Cameron, returned on Monday from
visiting at State Line Mills and enjoy
ed their stay with R. E. Skinner and
family.
Jessee McFadden's infant daughter's
remains were brought to Emporium on
Monday for burial. Its mother died
at this place when the child was only
a week old.
Mr. W. E. Chilson, wife and family,
of Renovo, visited at Mrs. Chilson's
home on West Creek over Sunday.
Mr. Chilson called at this office and
pushed the date of his PRESS ahead to
1907.
Miss Nell Lingle left Monday after
noon for Erie, where she will remain
until June when she starts for her
home in Westboro, Wis. Miss Edna
A'uchU expects to accompany Miss
Lingle to Westboro.
Rev J. W. Rue, who a number of
years ago was pastor of the Methodist
church in this place, is so critically ill
at his home in Waynesboro that death
is expected any time.—Rellefonto

position with Mr. Frank Shives at this

Theo. J. Corwin, of Sunbury, form

Jersey Shore, on Wednesday, to Miss
Emma Williamson.
Mrs. Ohas. T. Logan and cousin Miss
Kathryn liogan left Monday for Ring
hamton, N. Y., to visit the former's
mother, Mrs. Rogers.
Mrs. D. R. Rranson expects to leave
for Denver, Col., about June Ist, and
in case her sister, Miss Sarah Mc-
Donald, is no better will bring her

Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Eckly and chil
dren of Harrisburg, were in town Wed
nesday. They expect to visit Mr.
Eddy's brother at Calder Rrick Works
and Mrs. Eddy's parents at Sterling
Run, before returning home.

for several years has tendered his resig
nation to accept a clerkship with Cli

William McDonald, of Emporium,
Pa., and daughter, Miss Christy, of St.
Elizabeth convent, of Allegany, N. Y.,
and John Conley and daughter Mary,
of Ruffalo, were the guests of Mr. and
Mrs. A. C. Stangel over Sunday.—

pleased to learn is prospering. While
closing his short note he threw in the
following: "I am too busy to write
you a long letter this time, but we are
all well at present. Was out trout
fishing one day this week and caught
45 large trout. The Wisconsin trout,
like everything else here, beats Penn
sylvania stock. They are all nine
inches and upwards."

AN Ordinance to adopt plan and appro
_ priate money to construct extensions of the
public and common sewers in the Borough
of Emporium.
Be it ordained and enacted by the Council of
the Borough of Emporium and it is hereby or
dained and enacted by the authority of the same.
SECTION I. The plan of the additions and ex
tensions of the public and common sewers of the
Borough of Emporium as shown by the maps,
plans and profiles prepared by A. H. Shafer,
Civil Engineer, dated May 21,1906 and on file in
the office of the Secretary of the Borough Coun
cil is hereby adopted anil made part of the pub
lic and common sewer system of the Borough of
Emporium.
SECTION 11. All sewers hereafter constructed
by the Borough of Emporium in accordance
with said plan shall be part of the public and
common sewer system of the said Borough.
SECTION 111. The construction of said addi
tions ana extensions iu accordance with said
plan is hereby authorized and the sum of seven
thousandldollars arising from the loan for the
extension of the sewer system of said Borough
authorized by an election on the 20th day of Feb
ruary, 1906 or so much thereof a» is necessary is
hereby appropriated to pay for the cost of the
construction thereof and other expenses con
nected therewith and the Treasurer of the Boi
ough shall be and is hereby authorized and em
powered to pay out said money only upon orders
drawn to pay for said sewer extensions.

Pennsylvania, entitled "An Act to porvide for the
hico»poration and Regulation of certain Corpora
tions," approved April 29th, 1871, and the supple
ments thereto, for the charter of an intended
corporation, to be called EMPORIUM TELE
PHONE COMPANY, the character and object
whereof is for the purpose of constructing, main
taining and leasing telephone and telegraph
lines for the private use of individuals, firms,
corporations, municipal and otherwise, for gener
al business and for police, fire alarm and mes
senger business, the operation of telephone ex
changes and the furnishing of facilities for the
communication by means of the transmission of
electricity over or through wires, and doing a gen
eral telephone and telegraph business by such
means, with all the rights and powers in said Acts
granted. The general route of the lines of said
Company is as follows: Beginning at a point,
being No. 12, East Fourth street, in the Borough
of Emporium, County of Cameron and State of
Pennsylvania; thence to the line between the
| counties of Clinton and Cameron, at or near
where the same is crossed by the public road
leading down the Sinnamahoning Creek, via the
villages of Cameron and Sterling Run in the
township of Lumber, the Borough of Driftwood
and the village of Sinnamahoning in Grove
township'theuce from the starting point in the
Borough of Emporium to the county line be
tween the counties of McKean and Cameron,
near the village of Gardeau, via the villages of
Sizerville and Shippen, in the township of Port
age; thence from the starting point, iu the Bor
ough of Emporium to the county lint between
the counties of Elk and Cameron about one
mile west of the village of Beech wood, via the i
villages of Howard Siding and Beechwood, in!
the township of Shippen; thence commencing at
