The warm weather lias taken out the ice and taken away the sleighing. Casus O. Shafor is home from Michi gan to pay a visit to his parents and friends. The Citizens Hand will furnish music for the Martha Washington supper Feb. 21st. The iron is most all here for the new bridge which is to be built here this com ing spring. The 15. &S. trains were three days late last week on account of the ice jam and high waters. Mrs. Randal Walker was called to Ilcnovo on Monday by the sudden death of her son, E. O. Walker. Mr. ard Mrs. J. R. Ratchelder were called to Renovo suddenly Monday on account of"the death of Mrs. Ratcbclder's brother, E. O. Walker, of Renovo. The ice went out of the First Fork, last Saturday, taking out two bridges on the R & S. R. R. and about 501) logs, causing considerable damage. The protracted meeting commenced Sunday evening February Ist, conducted by Rev. Faus. All -are most cordially invited to come and take part in the good work. Another severe wreck occurred on the P. &E. R. R. Monday morning. Erie Flyer and a heavy engine used as pusher tried to pass on the same track, causing tlie death of fireman Walker and injuring several others. Eliott Walker, son of Randal Walker, was killed at Rathburn Monday morning. Ilis body was taken to his home at Renovo on mail Monday night; funeral will be held Wednesday at one p. m. Mr. Walker was fireman <>n Erie Flyer and had been in the employ of the P. & E. R. R. for fifteen years. He was a faith ful employe of the company and was re spected by all who knew him. lie leaves a wife and four small children to mourn his untimely death, lie was a loving hus band and kind father, lie was pinned fast between tlie engine and tender for two hours with steam and hot water pour ing on him all the time. He lived about two hours after beiug released and died a comrade's arms. He had his senses until a short time before he died and sent a last farewell to his family and made an earnest prayer to his Maker and said good bye to his comrades, the train men, and passed quietly away. His youngest brother was instantly killed in a head-on collision at Driftwood six years ago. He has another brother who lost his leg in the service of the R. li. com pany several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Milty Lewis, of Ridg way, is visiting friends and relatives in the Valley. Some of the Valley people attended a dance at Sizerville last Wednesday night. We are sorry to hear that Mr Elmer Newton has gone to Cameron to spend the rest of the winter. But never mind Elmer. While sleighriding Sunday evening Miss Floy Craven and Mr. .Jim Dinger were thrown out of the cutter, and the horse getting away from them caused great excitmcnt. While Mr. Lime Lewis and wife, Gertrude Barton, and Mr. Frankey Lewis, had a narrow escape from being run over. AN OUTCAST. Sinnamahoning Liars' Club. The Liars Club in session nearly the whole day Sunday in Pap's barber shop. There was lots of whoppers sprung. John Luguc came down from Fitst Fork, but was ruled out on the ground that he had been practicing for four weeks with Ike Bowen. That settled it. Pap Blodget was out out of work for a week. Au order was drawn on the treasury for seven cents for one week's benefit, ft was found that the treasurer had squandered the funds in purchasing snow shoes to hunt bear with. The bat was passed around, the amount being raised the second time around and charges brought against the treasurer. Abe Thorien was made a member and took the first degree. Jordan is a dandy; he can tell more whoppers in an hour than any man on earth and bring proof. Pap Berfield was not present at our last meeting. The club will set something spicy the next meeting. John Clontz is learning fast and will be a first-class mem ber, should he continue to take lessons from Ed Hanscome. George Chase is a good member. He took out a license one day last week. Jordan and Gore will have 110 business with him. Charles Snyder left in haste. A ground hog came out of his hole and Liar Snyder took after him and chased him six miles without success. Xo further business the elub broke up in good order. The Club has made an addition to its membership. J. 11. Drum reported that bis wife had a stove that drew so hard that it lifted the front legs from the floor and had to be bolted to the floor to keep it from raising on its hind legs.
