Then he Should Advertise.
If you toot your little tooterand then
lay aside your horn, there's not a soul
in ten short days will know that you
were born. Tho man who gathers
pumpkins is the man who plows all
day, and the man who keeps it hump
ing is the man who makes it pay. The
man who advertises with a short,
suddenjerk, is the man who blames
the editor because it didn't work. The
man who gets the business a long and
steady pull and keeps the local papers
from year to year quite full; he plans
his advertisements in a thoughtful way,
and keeps forever at it until he makes
it pay. He has faith in all the future,
can withstand a sudden shock, and like
the man of Scripture, has his business
on a rock.—Ex.
Lumber dealers fear a famine in hem
lock lumber. It is reported that four
fifths of the 10,000,000 feet of Michigan
hemlock, tho season's cut,has been sold.
This will mean a scarcity of that grade
of lumber and proportionately high
prices. Hemlock has already risen
from $13.50 to $24 50 per thousand and
will go still higher. Much of the Mich
igan lumber is going through to eastern
cities . This is unusual, as the eastern
market has usually been supplied from
tho Pennsylvania market —Ex.
Everybody takes pride in the looks of

back yards. Take good care of your
lawns; keep theoi rich and well mow

plant some iu your back or side yard.
Trim up your trees. Thoroughly clean
your cellars and whitewash the walls;
sprinkle a few pounds of copperas in
the corners of the cellar bottom; open
the cellar windows; tack some fly
screen on tho frames to keep out mice,
flies and cats- All these not costly
items mentioned above, will improve
your property, make your home moro
pleasant and healthy. Try it and see
if you are not well paid.
Spring Ailment.
