Harry Derby, who is employed at
Olean, N. Y., spent Sunday with his
parents at this place.
Master Mechanic Hammond, of Iron
Company, visited with his family at
Lebanon over Sunday.
Chas. L. Butler and family passed
Easter Sunday at Port Allegany, guests
of Jos. M. Butler and wife.
Mrs. Chas. Gleason arrived in Drift
wood on Tuesday, from Boston, to
visit relatives and friends.
Ed. White, came over from Buffalo
last Saturday and visited with old
friends over Sunday. Ed. is looking
well.
W. J. McLess left for Renovo where
he will be prescription clerk in Ed
mundson's drug store.—Lock Haven

Mrs. Ed. Blinzler and children aro
visiting "the old folks at home," at
St. Marys, to remain until the repairs
are made to their residence at this
place.
Prof. Bastian visited Coudersport
last Saturday, where he delivered an
address before the Teachers Associa
tion. No doubt the address was an
able one.
Mrs. Vail Leadbetter and her two
little daughters loft on Monday for
Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Medna to
visit her children. She expects to be
absent until the first of May.
Miss Bessie McCaslin from Holli
daysburg Seminary, and the Misses
Grace Leet and Mary Davidson from
Wilson College, Chambersburg, are
home to spend their Easter vacation.
Will A.Gebhardt, of Lock Haven Re
publican, one of our most valued ex
changes, was a PRESS visitor on Tues
day. Mr. G. is member of the popular
Germania Orchestra that furnished the
music for Citizens Hose ball. The
boys are popular with our people.

Mr. Edward White, chief clerk at
Emporium Furnace, is spending a few
days on a business trip to eastern
points.
Mrs. Webb Walize, of Renovo, visit
ed in Emporium, guest of her sister,
over Sunday, remaining for Citizens
Hose ball.
Miss Goldic Lyons, who is attending
business college came home to spend
Easter. She returned to resume her
studies on Tuesday.
Mayor Foley, of Olean, attended the
funeral of S. J. Faucette yesterday.
Mr. Faucette was for several years
salesin-iii for Messrs. Foley.
Miss Helen Van Valkenburg visited
her parents at Wellsboro over Easter.
Miss Mattie Collins, county Supt. filled
her place during her absence.
Mr. Paul S. Smith left Wednesday to
join Louis J. Russell in the Dr. Jeykl
and Mr. Ilyde Company. Mrs. Smith
will join him later in the season.
Mr. W. P. Piper has resigned his
position as drug clerk in F. J. Welch's
Drug Store and has returned to his
home in Sinnemahoning.—Austin Re-
publican.
(ioo. W. Van Wert, who recently left
Emporium and located in Wayne
county has returned to Emporium and
entered the employ of the Keystone
Powder Company.
G. IT. Howlett and W. A. Marsh, of
Sterling Run, circulated around town
yesterday and wandered into the PRESS
office. We noticed policeman Mundy
kept one eye on them.
We beg onr friend Joe Friendell's
pardon for failing to mention the ar
rival of that boy baby at his home.
This is their first boy, and of course
all is happiness on Maple street.
S. S. Miller, of Driftwood, purchased
the Isaac Smith, Jr., farm at Trustees
sale. The farm contains from 20 to 30
fine black walnut trees. Sam thinks
he will try that fruit in next political
contest in place of the rambo.
C. It. Ilusted, of East Emporium,
who has been for twenty years an
honest and industrious resident of Em
porium, was a PRESS visitor yesterday
and, of course, made him<ielf solid with
the printer by pushing ahead his PRESS
for another year.
S. VV. Nyce, of Dents Run, one of our
old and esteemed subscribers was a
pleasant PRESS visitor yesterday. Of
course he pushed ahead the date on
his PRKSS to 1903, an example we
should delight to have many others
follow. So many people think it costs
nothing to conduct a newspaper and
any old time to pay will answer. Mr.
Nyce is nob of this class.
Fred A. Johnson, son of Hon. J. C.
Johnson, of this place, is home from
Swarthmore College to pass a few days
with his father. "Ted," as his Em
porium friends know him best, wo are
pleased to note has made rapid ad
vancement at Swarthmore, being one
of the associate editors of"The
Phoenix," the college publication. He
is also one of the officers of Senior
Class of 1 £>o2 as Ivy Poet. His extreme
modesty forbids our requesting his
favorite poem for the PRESS.

returned last Thursday from Florida.
Clyde Putnam and Brady Munsell,
two ot Emporium's bright little men,

Prof. C. P. Bastian, the accomplished
principal of the Emporium schools,
visited Coudersport last Saturday and
delivered an excellent address before
the Teachers' Association. Wo under
stand he will open a summer school on
May 12tli, at Emporium.—Coudersport
