George Howard has returned from

Lewis Hopple, formerly a resident
of this place was calling on old ac
vuaintances in town on Monday and

Rev. Metzler returned last evening

Laura the two year old daughter of
Leonard Evans who has been ill with
pheumonia is rapidly improving under
the care of Dr. Ileilman.
Chas. H. Felt, who has been threat
ened with typhoid fever, is improving,
Dr. Baker, the attending physician be
lieving he lias broken up the disease.
J. P. Felt returned on Saturday from
Florida, where ho and his family have
been passing the winter. His wife
and children will not come home un
til May.
Chas. Gleason, the Boston represen
tative of L. R. Gleasons & Som, ar
rived in town on Tuesday evening to
look after the interests of the firm and

Edwin Cook came over from Port
Allegany on Monday to look over
town and visit his many friends.
Theo. Hudson came down from
Johnsonburg on Sunday and visited
his many friends in town until Mon
day evening.
Mrs. John J. Hinkle arrived from
Philadelphia on Monday to visit her
parents and assist them in moving
from the Warner House.
Geo. It. McCrea and James Murphy,
of Renovo, were in town last Monday
and we are informed, located three
new wells, the drills to start at an
early date.
D. W. Morton and wife, of Buffalo,
have been visiting relatives in this
section for several days. Mr. Morton,
who is a steady and reliable mania
now passenger conductor on Buffalo
division.
Dean Fredericks, Esq., of Flemming
ton, Pa., came to Emporium last Fri
day "to witness the Maro entertain
ment," but from all accounts his eyes
wandered in the direction of the High
School building. He remained over
Sunday.
Harry Mitchell and wife, Frank
Richardson and wife, L. W. Gleason
and wife, John Gleason and wife, Miss
Mattie M. Collins, Dr. Corbett and
Prof. Woodward, of Driftwood,attend
ed the Maro entertainment, at this
place, last Friday evening.
The many friends of Geo. W. Tow
ers and family, of Driftwood, will be
pained to learn that the fire demon
visited them last Friday morning, de
stroying all their household goods.
Mrs. Towers and children escaped
from the burning building but had a
very close call.
Messrs. Theis Butler and Pearson Fry
of Emporium, were calling on friends in
town last week R. J. McSwan the
oldest employee in the history of the
B. & S. R. R., has purchased the D E.
Smith property on upper Main street,
and moved to the same. "Roary" has
been pulling the throttle on a Lima out
of Blowville the past several years,
and will now take a promotion to the
main line, down along the Sinnama
