I New York. { CAMERON COUNTY PRESS, THURSDAY, JUNE 21, 1900. Additional Local News. Emporium Liars Club. The Emporium Liars Club held a j special meeting ou Monday evening to I make arrangements for the big Fourth of ! .July celebration. Also to transact some other very important business. It was reported that one of our old members, who had become somewhat of fended at the secretary's report of our last meeting, which was published a few weeks since, came to town with his war paint on, inquiring of certain individ uals who reported the meeting and said • he would like to know who this scribe i was. From his talk it was evident that something sour and very heavy lay on his stomach. The application of Wm. McVanc i was read and accepted and that gentle j man was initiated and will no doubt I make a good member. Wm. Dalrymple asked the club for a I leave of absence, as he was going to at- I tend the Dcnocratic National Convention j at Kansas City, July 4, which was grant ; ed. Dalrymple said there was some talk jof him being put up for second place ! with Bryan. lie has just received a car j load of Democratic literature and is able ! to meet all comers with a strong argu j ment. Wm. Snyder has been somewhat j cross-grained since he lost his dog and it will not be well for the parties who bor i rowed this canine if he finds out who they are. On Monday evening Mr. I Snyder notified detective Sweesy of the j mysterious disappearance of the dog and the last seen of Sweesy he was on j a trail and passed over the hill .at the old j stone quarry Sinnemahoning Liars Club. The liars club held a meeting in Pap I Blodgctt's shop, it being the only place that could be secured, as Beldin's hen house is alive with vermin, which was plainly evident at our last meeting, when Pap Berfield, who was seated on a hen's nest arose and said he thought the club had better look for another place to meet as this place is alive with lice. Beldin j then jumped up and said that must be a mistake as that was something unusual for his chickens to have lice and he thought it must he mosquitoes which are very bad there sometimes, for his chick ens were free from lice. Beldin present ed a bill for damages to his chicken roost | which was broken at our last meeting. | The hat was passed and seven cents was raised towards meeting the expenses. Initiations were next in order and Frank Fisher was introduced and receiv ed the first degree, but refused the other three, his blood not being in shape to stand the racket. It was decided to purchase a piece of ! ground and erect a suitable building !to hold meetings in. The secretary is j receving applications daily from Williams j port, Benezette, Driftwood and near bv | towns and it our membership increases as j fast in the year to come as it has in the year paft it will require a building as large as the National Capitol to hold us. and a train of twenty-five leaded cars daily to haul refreshments. The secre tary reports sufficient money on hand • to duplicate the Capitol building and a little left. When Ilarve Smith returns from the hospital he will he loaded for a bear and hot time is expected. Joe Summerson tramped on Tom Snyder's toes and a general row was the result. Hanscome took down the rail j road for North Bend, Geo. Sliafer went | through the side window and tramped I down the most of Pap lilodgel's potatoes, ! his feet being so large that he was un | able to turn around. Pap Blodget put j his hand under his shoe bench and Joe j Strayer sat and smiled (?). j The following letter was received from the Williamsport hospital: "Well Pap I received your letter and was pleased with your reports. No doubt the reason Fisher refused to ride | the troat was because he was afraid of j losing the hair on the top of his head. ; If Otto McCoy can not keep from break ing up the furniture in the chicken coop's he should be lined. Norman Johnson and John Logue laid themselves liable to a heavy fine when they frightened away that applicant. Joe Summerson should not be allowed to use paint in his old days and if Joe Strayer refuses brother Hanscom's invitation to have something I again, he should be suspended. Our club held its meeting here the j other evening and some good ones were j sprung. Win. Shaw held the chair. The meeting closed very quietly and j the members turned into dream of home - and the empty flour barrel. A. P.
