Chas. Chestnutt, proprietor of the
Commercial Hotel, Brookville, was a
guest at the Junction House the first
of the week.
Mrs. E. E. Forbes, of Marietta, ()., is
visiting her mother and sister, at this
place—Mrs. A. G. Holbrook and Miss
May Holbrook.
Messrs. A. B. Mann and M. S.
Thompson, two of Coudersport's lead
ing citizens, were in town Monday,
between trains.
M. J. Logue, of First Fork, was in
town 011 Wednesday and did not lose
his shoes this time. He is a good re
liable Republican just the same.
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Gulick, who
have been the guests of J. B. Sehriever
and family, for the past week, departed
on No. 8, Wednesday, for New York
City.
Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Jones, who were
called here by the serious illness of
Mrs. Jones' brother, Mr. Jas. Reid, re
turned to their home Monday. Mr.
Reed is slowly improving.
Frank P. Sykes, of Goodyear, was
falling on Emporium friends 011
Wednesday and called 011 ye editor.
Mr. Sykes is an upright, honorable
gentleman.
Mr. B. N. Burlingame, of Chicago,
who is visiting his parents at Sizerville,
was in town the iirst of the week,
greeting his many friends, and called
011 ye editor for a short chat.
J. A. Dice, of Cameron, was in Em
porium 011 Tuesday and paid his
respects to the PRESS. Mr. Dice is one
of Lumber's good citizens and does
not carry the dollar mark brand on
forehead
Emmet Lord, of Sterling Run, was
a pleasant PRESS caller yesterday and
ehatted a few moments with ye editor.
We are always glad to see our friends,
and endeavor to treat our enemies
with courtesy when they call.
John McDonald, Associate Judge
elect, was in Emporium on Monday,
receiving congratulations from his
friends. Mr. McDonald will enter
upon the disaharge of his duties free
from all pledges. We hope to hear
good reports from him.
Mr. Josiah Howard, accompanied by
Mrs. George Howard, attended the big
Yale-Princeton foot ball game at
Princeton last Saturday, and incident
ally made a brief visit with Mrs.
Howard's son Charles, who is a .student
at Princeton University.
C. L. Butler, of the West Ward, says
lie don't feci so bad about the election
since the arrival ofthatneW voter, in
the shape of a ten pound boy. We
congratulate Mr. Butler and sincerely
hope he may have better luck than
