orchard management, in such j
Pennsylvania orchards bs have
been taken in charge by the Divi
sion of Zoology of the Department
of Agriculture, to be shaped into
"Model Orchards," to serve as ob
ject lessons in fruit culture in the
different counties of the State.
With the exception of three
counties (Elk, Fayetteand Fulton,)
there are from two to five such or
chards in every county, according
to its size as well as its importance
as a fruit growing district, or a
total of over two hundred. In fact,
York County has six. While these
orchards will be used primarily for
demonstration and instruction pur
poses, another class, designated as
Supervision Orchards, (numbering
over five hundred,) will be under
the care of the Division of Zoology,
whose owners will receive sugges
tions and help," from time to time,
so as to obtain the best results.
Meetings will only be held in the
"Public Meeting Demonstration
Model Orchards." It is proposed to
hold three such meetings during
the year, for the purpose of demon
strating methods of fruit culture,
viz: pruning, spraying of trees,
cultivation aud fertilization. There
will be lectures pertaining to horti
culture at each public meeting, and
State Zoologist will endeavor to at
tend at least one meeting in each
county. His places and dates will
be announced through the press
The meetings of the first series,
now in progress, will be devoted
mainly to spraying for the control
of the San Jose Scale and similar
pernicious insects, but pruning and
other orchard methods will be
taught. Besides Professor Surface
being in attendance, or one of his
assistants from the office of the
State Zoologist in Harrisburg, two
of the State's orchard inspectors
will be present at each meeting,
riin or shine.
The dates of the meetings, and
the places where they will be held,
will be announced through the
newspapers each week. Everybody
interested should attend the meet
ug easiest of access, because of the
valuable information to be obtained
by a personal observance of the
improved methods, that will be
ihowu and explained, of dealing
vith insect pests and fungous
diseases, as well as of managing an
orchard.

After
La Grippe
"I had suffered several wcck3
with LaGrippe. Had pains in
my head and eyes. It felt as
though there was a heavy weight
on the top of my head, until it
seemed that my brain would
burst. I was so nervous that
I could not rest or sleep. When
I dozed oft I would awake with
a sudden jerking of my whole
body. Dr. Miles' Nervine, Heart
Remedy and Nerve and Liver
Pills cured me. A number of
friends have since realized the
same benefits."
MRS. ALVIN II. LOCKS,
Seabrook, N. II.
The after effects of LaGrippe
arc often more serious than the
disease, as it leaves the system
in a weakened condition that
invites more serious troubles,
such as pneumonia, etc.
Dr. Miles'
Restorative Nervine
should be taken for some time
to thoroughly restore nerve
strength.
