THE COLUMBIAN, BLOOMSRUPO. PA Mar Uia Three Books. The following from the Harris iurg Telegraph will be of interest at this time : "The Legislature just ended made no change in the law relating to fishing lor trout," ald Fish Commissionjr Mcehan, "and those who go out to catch the speckled! beauties I believe that is what you call 'emneed have no appre hension that there have been ehanges. A man can catch but fifty trout in one day, and if he catches any more on that day he pays ten dollars for each one over the fifty. These stories of big trout catches will stop hereafter, and you will no longer hear of how a man whipped a stream and in a few hours caught a couple of hundred trout. That i9 the kind of a story this department investigates, and if found true the offender is hauled up for violating the law. "Last year we hunted down a story from Altoona to the effect that two men had caught several hundred trout in one day, and dis covered that the big catch origi nated in the nimble fancy of an Altoona reporter and we took that gentleman before a justice of peace and made him take an oath that he would never again tell a lie like that and put the department to trouble. "No trout less than six inches long can be legally caught and a fisherman must throw back into the stream any trout that he catches smaller than that. As to fishing for trout on Sunday, that is a mat ter that has not yet been thrashed out in the Superior court, where it now is. A law passed in 1870 for bade Sunday fishing, but it is a question whether the new law of 1901 did not repeal it, and the court now has it under consideration. ' ' It will be lawful to catch trout only with rod, book and line. Any other way is illegal, ho nets can be used in taking trout. The ques tion has been raised as to whether more than one book may be used on a line, and we are inclined to think that the use of three hooks is legal, and we have so instructed our wardens, so that there will be no arrests made for using more than one hook." Big Plant at Danville Sold by the Sheriff. The blast furnace, steel plant, plate mill, shovel factory, handle factory and the several lots of land, nearly 30 acres in all, with the buildings, improvements, fixtures and machinery comprising the pro perty of the Danville Bessemer Company, was sold at Sheriff's sale Monday, the purchasers being a company of Danville men, who in tend to operate the works. The price at which the works were knocked down was $56,500. It was sold 011 a mortgage of $58, 000 held by Charles S. Calwell, trustee for the bondholders. The latter on not receiving any interest became dissatisfied and proceeded to sell the plant. As the works were knocked down to Thomas J. Price a murmur of satisfaction ran through the crowd, all understand ing from that circumstance that the big plant, once the pride and hope of Danville, was safe from the grasp of the junk dealers and would re main in Danville. Miles Medical Co., Elkhart, Ind Snow in the Streets, k Superior Court Decision That Will Keep Until Next Winter. The Superior court reversed the famous snow shoveling case. When the Mauch Chunk trolley line management, after a heavy snow fall, cleared its line of snow, Bur gess G. A. Hemrn of Mauch Chunk led a party of citizens who shoveled the snow back on the tracks. Hugh E. Crilly, receiver of the road caused the burgess and his work ers to be taken before Judge Trex ler, charging them with contempt of court. They were acquitted but sentenced to pay half of the costs. The case was appealed. Judge Beaver writing the decision for the Superior court, says Receiver Crilly must pay all the costs. The decis ion is rendered on the ground that when the trolley line cleared its tracks, it piled so much snow on the sides of the streets as to render it impassable. Judge Beaver says the trolley people ought to have hauled away the snow. TRIAL LIST, For Wook Beginning Monday, 1905. Firt Week. May tit. Hiisnn E. ('iN!wr vn.
