CASHING A CHECK.
Dilllrnltlps Kiperlnnrori In a Strauss
City by Well-Known Ken York
Newapnper Sill,
The difficulties of cashing a check in
a strange city were experienced the
other night in Boston by a well known
New York newspaper man, who con
ducts one of the chief departments of
one of the principal metropolitan
journal, relates the .New York Times.
It happens t hat he has no friends iu the
Hub; that is, no acquaintances. In his
search for some one to cush his cheek
and it was nil he had except a few cents
he found several people who, when
he told them who he was confessed to
lie daily renders of his writings, but
eit her they were temporarily impecuni
ous or doubtful that he was the man he
pretended to be.
He had been on a vacation in a rural
district, where the natives made no
hesitation of giving him greenbacks
for the newspaper checks, but when he
struck the city he found tliiny-s entire-
j ly (lilTerent. The hotel clerk remem
bered him as a guest of June, and rec
ognized the indorsement of the check
and the signature on the register as
the fame; but he said that that would
not serve as identification. No news
paper man knew him except by reputa
tion, and, after p'.odding from one of
fice to another, he was obliged to ask
his oinee to telegraph on a description
of his personal appearance. Then, aud
not until them, did he succeed in get
ting ahead of the incredulity of the
hotel clerk and secure money enough
to settle his bill acd buy his ticket back
to Jew 1 ork.
To make a living! And we stand nnd
stare up at the man in the clouds, won
dering that any man can lie so fool
hardy. J'.ut what of
the business man,
who has b-trely time
to snatch a hasty
meal, nnd gulp's
down a lunch of pie
and milk in a few
minutes? He too, is
risking his life to
make a living. Life
is sustained by food
properly digested and
assimilated. The re
sult of hasty eating
and irregular meals
is "weak" stomach,
aud a "weak" stom
ach means a weak
man. When the
stomach is " weak "
tUe food eaten is not
pmiperly digested
and cannot be per
fectly assimilated, so
that there is a daily loss of nutrition,
which in time will result ii'i physicul
collapse.
Dr. Tierce's Golden Medical Discovery
cures diseases of the stomach and other
organs of digestion and nutrition. It
enables the assimilution of all the nutri
tive values of the food eaten, and so
builds up the body into souud health
and strength.
Mr. Ned Nelson, the celebrated Iriuli Come
dian and Mi alio, of s;7 Hoyden Street, Camden,
N. J , writes : "We tulfilled nn eiiK-'iKement of

results."
