One of the notes reads: "On Jan uary 18, iS85, "Wild Bill" on a wager, ran from Exchange Hotel, Bloomsburg, to the City Hotel, in this place, in one hour and 19 min utes. The ground was covered with snow to the depth of nearly four inches. After a rest of 10 min utes "Wild Bill" ran back to Bloomsburg, covering the distance home in one hour and 30 minutes."
