Railroad Trackt, Near Oak Crovo, Saturday Morning. The boJy of Amos Gruver, cold in death, was lound along the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad, near Oak Grove, Saturday morning last. Early in the morning he left the residence of his son, John Gru ver, on Kast Third street, with whom he had been making his home since ihe death of his wite, two years ago, for the expressed purpose of making some repairs to a line fence on his property on Park street. rie had reached his objective point, or at least that was the supposition, and hail worked a little while, and then leeling unwell, had started home. When too weak or faint to continue the homeward journey, without rest, he sat down on a tie pile, and ex pired. Mr. Gruver was a respectable gen tleman, and dealt squarely with every one. He was a devout member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and each and every Sabbath found him at his place in the Sunday school, as well as the church service. He was pretty well on in years. Although we ire not positive as to his age, we are safe in stating it at sixty-nine. His only survivor is the son referred to above. Justice of the Teace Guy Jacoby was summoned to conduct an in quest, but the cause of death, in his opinion, was so apparently natural, , that he deemed it unnecessary. The ' remains were at once removed to the residence on East Third street, from which place the funeral took place on Tuesday, services being conducted by Rev. W. M. Frysinger, of the Meth odist Church. ENDED BIS OWN LIFE- Daniel Fry of Grovania, Becomes Despond ent and Hangs Himself. Daniel Fry of Grovania, took his ownlileon Monday morning. His body was found dangling from a beam id the straw shed only a short dis tance from the house by his daughter Mazie, who had missed him, and had gone to see where he was. Last spring Mr. try was the victim of a severe case of "grippe", from which be nevefl entirely recovered. For the past several months he showed signs of despondency. Frequently he would say that life extended empty hands to kim. He wanted to die; and to this end went about coolly and calmly. He had mounted a ladder, walked to the center of the beam, fastened the rope to the timber, placed it about his neck and then jumped off, drop ping a distance of about seven feet His neck was not broken. Death re sulted from strangulation. Guy Jacoby, Justice of the Peace, as driven to the scene, but as the feet that he had taken his own life was so apparent, an inquest was dis pensed with. Mr. Fry was about sixty-one years of age. l ie is survived by a wife, five sons and three daughters. The funeral will be held today. Just Where He Belongs. Fort Clack has a new prisoner. His name is Joseph Kramer. For some time past he has lived with his family, consisting of his wife and sev eral little children, on Catharine street, about midway between Fifth nd Sixth streets, during which time he has lrequently, without any cause whatsoever, ill treated and abused his 'fe. Saturday, as a neighbor was Passing up Catharine street, he no ticed a commotion about the Kramer house. Familiar with the conduct toward his wife, that has marked Kramer's life in the past, he stepped inside, and was just in time to stop h'm from beating his wife. He im mediately had a warrant issued. Kramer was arrested and given a hearing before Justice of the Peace K. II. Ringler. He wa's without any 0ne to furnish surety, and, of course, M sent to jail, to await his appear an at Court.
