Jacob White died at his home
near Shickshinny, Sunday evening.

Wyoming Seminary and Normal

Walter Irappe will leave m a

has been looking after the fire
alarm system since its inception
about a year ago. His departure
will make the position vacant.
Notwithstanding the lact that tne
job is a small one, with but little

four or. five applicants for it.
There will be a concert in the A.
M. K. church of Bloonisburg, Pa.,
on Thursday night, May 10, 1900.
It is to be a erand affair. All that
mav attend will have a good time.

William Chrisman has announced
his indention not to be a candidate
for the Legislature. This leaves

Boyd Kvans, of the Bloonisburg
Store Company's clerical force, has
purchased a horse from Dr. M. J

Death came peacefully to Miss
Ada Vial, at her home on Leonard
street, Saturday. She had been an
invalid for many years. The de
ceased was about twenty-one years
of age. The funeral took place
from the house Tuesday afternoon
The services were conducted by
Rev. D. N. Kirkby, ot St. Paul's
Church, interment in Rosemont
cemetery.
William T. Creasy was in town
on Monday. He is a very busy
man these days, giving much of his
time to legislative matters that need
attention at the next session. Mr
Creasy is recognized as a leader by
Democrats all over the state, and
his experience as a member ha
well fitted him for valuable service
in the legislature. The two term
rule in this case is not an inflexible
one in this county. T. J. Vander

Fritz four.

During the progress of the storm
Tuesday evening lightning struck
the chimney of O. W. Cherring
ton's double house on Park street,
ou the side occupied by Peter Hartz
ell. The current passed down into
the dining room, out the door and
across to the other side, occupied
by "Charles Ottman, where it set
fire to the veranda, but was ex
tinguished before any damage en
sued. A little son of Mr. Hartzell,
the occupant of the other side of
the house, was burned about the
face and leg by the lightning, and
was terribly frightened.
An open meeting was held by
the Royal Arcanum, in their hall,
last Friday evening. A program
of vocal music, by the male choir,
a violin solo by Master Schwartz,
selections on the graphophone, by
Robert Dent, and recitations, by
Mrs. J. L. Richardson, was well
rendered and much enjoyed. Dr.
Bouse, of Chambersburg, Deputy
Grand Regent, Col. Farnsworth
and D. P. Hunt, of Danville, were
present and made interesting re
marks. Light refreshments were
served. The wives and daughters
of many of the members were pres
ent. The Bloomsburg Council has

Jeremiah Pensyl, a prosperous
farmer of Rush township, Montour
County, aged 63 years, dropped
over dead while watering his stock
Sunday evening.
The High School boys won from
Nescopeck at base ball at the ltter
place Saturday afternoon. Score

The remains of the late R. B
Hazlett, whose death occurred at
Riverside on Tuesday, arrived here
on the 10:49 D. L. & W. train
Monday morning, and were laid to
rest 111 Rosemont cemetery. He at
one time resided in town.
Joseph Waterhouse was ground
to pieces by a freight train at
Muncy, Saturday afternoon. He
arrived in Danville about two weeks
ago from Philadelphia, and secured
employment at C. C. Mover s hv
ery stable, Saturday morning he
left for the home of his parents at
Muncy. He was standing at the
station with a few friends when
freight train came thundering along
In defiance of warnings he attempt
ed to board it, missed the handle
and fell beneath the wheels. The
remains were scattered along the
track for a hundred yards or more
The deceased was 28 years old, and
married. He was in Bloonisburg
one evening last week.
