Modera rr.rUloas for Teteat of gafferere F Never have the arranf menta for dealing with the wounded been in bo thoroughly satisfactory a condition ns they are to-doy, says the Churrh Fam ily Newspaper. During an engage ment, and aa the troopa advance, the wounded are Bought out as quickly as may he possible, their wounds tem porarily dressed, fractures temporar ily splinted and any other "first aid" erven that may be necessary. Each soldier carries with, him a small "first aid" equipment In his tunic, so that he wny bandage himself or temporarily arrest bleeding, or give such help to a wounded comrade. After "first aid" Is rendered the wounded are borne on comfortable litters to the "dressing .places," which aro sheltered spots a 'abort distance behind the line of bat tle usually In the rear of the artillery. Here they are examined by the sur ,.aii: hemorrhage Is securely arrest ed; bullets which can be easily and -ulrUlv removed are taken away: for eign bodies and splinters of bone or .shell. If loose, are removed; limbs so (cured as to render transport to the field hospital ensy and comfortable, :snd anything else done which can be done with ease and rapidity. No big epcrntion Is done at these spots except In the case of limbs so shattered ns to rrnuire Immediate amputation. The surgeons at the "dressing places" do only what is absolutely necessary, and tlien the wounded are made comfort able in specially constructed ambulance wagons and transported to the field hospital. lnnlnuntlnit.
