McFadden's Reception, was played to a small audience at the Opera House Thursday night. The perform ance as a whole was below the average. The Agricultural Society on Satur day decided not to pay any premiums until after their regular annual meet ing, which will be held in January. Mr. S. M. Bard of llarrisburg, ad dressed the men's meeting in Y. M. C. Ar Hall, last Sunday afternoon, at 3o. The suit of Ash Bros, against the Berwick Water Co. was tried in Wilkes Barre this week. It was re moved there from this county. While robbing pillars at the Girard Colliery, at Shamokin on Thursday, last week, William Williams, aged fifty-two years, was caught in a rush of coal and instantly killed. Bills are out announcing an enter tainment to be given in the Opera House, on the evening of Wednesday December 23, by the Bloomsburg and Danville Athletic Clubs. The plant of the Williamsport candy company, owned by Gates & fender, was completely destroyed by fire on Monday. The loss is about $25,000, and "is fully covered by in surance.
