Mr. Bedal, not the au'.hor o Bloonisburg's celebrated Golden ined ical discovery, but the Rev. Bedal, o Persia, is now a zealous convert to Christianity ; and, having graduated from the Drew I'liooiogical Seminary he will return as a missionary to Persia to prove by ocrttlar denionr.tra tion the superiority of Christianity as compared with idolatry and the bar barous practices of heathens. We can remember a time in the history of this proud Republic when what the Governor of North Carolina said to the Governor ot South Caro lina was considered of national itn portance. But in the evolutions of time the remarks of one Governor to another, whether praiseworthy r condemnatory, are as nothing com pared with what our modern Govern ors now persume to say to the Presi dent of the United Stales. Innovations, like wonders, never cease in this progressive age. And now that the wholo earth wears an electrical belt, whether innovations be tried or desirable light be discovered all light worthy of being utilized for the common good is very soon trans mined all along the whole electrical line. To reflect upon the darkness and inconveniences of the past, as compar ed with the licht and conveniences of the present, is, as we can but fancy the most p easureable pastime of the aged. Having outlived their use fulness in the business activities of life they are thus left entirely to their own reflections while waiting, only waiting, for the higher life to come. With mem ories brightest and clearest upon youth ful reminiscences, how many pleasing moments may be passed in making comparisons of the past with the pre sent and building upon God's promises for the future. Imitation. Have you ever noticed the airs the young girl of 10 to 12 gives herself? Her dresses are cut to fall about half way between the knee and ankle, or say to the shoe tops. Yet your little miss when she crosses the streets on a muddy day daintly grasps a handful of her skirts and swings them around like her older sister, even if they do not come within a foot of contact with mud. It is a curious freak of girlhood to be compared to the boy stroking the mustash place, years be fore the cuticle is fuzz covered. Mount Carmil Item.
