G. B. Martin presented a bill for service as policeman for two months $10.00. Mr. Gorrey moved, seconded by Mr. Swcntzcl, to refer the matter to the Solicitor and determine whethrr he is .1 policeman. Mr. A. C. Creasy presented the claim of a road machine. On mo tion the subject was referred to Com mittee on Highways. Complaint was made that occupants of residences at corner of Fourth and East streets were throwing slops and coal ashes on the street. It was re ferred to the Board of Health. Mr. Housel moved that the Water Company be notified to put Iron street in same condition as they found it, within live days, or the town will do it at their expense with 20 per cent, added. President Judge Ermenlrout and Additional Law Judge Endlich, of Berks county, are having a controversy over the matter of selection of juries. Mr. Endlich handed down an opinion of grjat length accusing Judge Eruien trout of participation in the selection of juries, to which Mr. Ermentrout made a rcple derying Judge Endlich's assertion. Co. at Carbondale. The West J'ittston Jounud is the latest in the field of journalism. It is a six column eight page paper, pub lished by Keystone Publishing Co., with Dorscy Byils as manager. They claim it to be the first weekly paper published in West Pittston. Some of the Hungarians at the re servoir gave a boy, fourteen years old, enough whiskey last Saturday to render him insensible. He was carried to his home and his parents were very much alarmed at his condition until they learned the cause, and then they were very angry at the brutes who had given the child the liquor. Rachael Myra, daughter of Dr. J. C. Rutter of this town, and wife of Dr. C. B. Frontz, of Montgomery, Pa., died at her home in the latter place last Friday morning, after an illness of seven months. She died in child birth, the infant surviving the mother but a short time. Mrs. Frontz was born here, and resided here until her marriage in 1S92. Her death is the first one in the family of Dr. Rutter, which consisted of the parents and eight children. The funeral took place on Monday, and the remains were buried at Hughesville.
