Old Folks services at Asbury church one week from Sunday. East Benton. Last Friday morning O. C. Beish line of this township met with an ac cident that resulted in the loss of his left hand. He runs a traction engine when threshing grain and on the morn ing above mentioned was preparing to thresh for Mr Reichart near Orangeville. I am informed that while oiling the machinery his hand was caught by the piston rod with the above result. Dr. Stoddard of Or arigeville ani Dr. Bierman of Blooms burg, amputated the hand at the wrist joint. He was removed to Mr. Grov e's, whose wife is a cousin to Mr. Beishline, near to where the accident occurred. When last heard from he was doing as well as could be expect ed. The law passed by the legislature last winter permitting marriages to be performed outside of the county where the license is issued, wi.l not go into effect until October 1, 1895. Chester Stiltz, formerly a resident of this county, and a member of the hrm of Stiltz & Co. at Tamison City, died at Williamsport last week, and was buried there on Saturday. 1 he cause of his death was Bright's disease. He was a genial young man, full of life and fun, and made friends wherever he went. The news of his death was received here with many expressions of regret at his early demue. During the fair there were dozens of vehicles for the conveying of pass engers in town, which did not belong here, anci in some instances the drivers were quite dis obliging. On Friday during the heavy rain, a driver with a four horse hack, brought a load consisting mostly of ladies who reside in town, up from the grounds, and driving up to the Central Hotel, coolly told them to get out as he would not drive all over town. They refused to pay him unless he took them to their homes. There arc five or six livery stab'es here, and in ordinary weather these can handle all the people who wish to ride back and forth to the fair grounds or stations. Before another fair, they should make an effort to secure an or dinance to lay a tax on every non-resident hackman who comes here with his rigs to make money.
