At a meeting of tiie Pinnsyivania delegation to the Democratic National convention held last Monday in the Sherman House, Chicago, Chairman Ilensel made a short ad dress and Senator Grant Herring offer ed a resolution instructing the chair man to cast the solid vote of Penn sylvania for Grover Cleveland until he shall be nominated lor President of the United States or the delegation shall instruct otherwise. He had hardly finished reading his resolution when Delegate Collins, of Bellefonte, pushed his way through the crowd, and, made a hot speech against casting a solid vote for Cleve land. The caucus was held with open doors, and the violent language of Mr. Collins created some liitle excite ment, which soon quieted down. When he got through Delegate John T. Lenihan, of the Twelth district moved that the name of Grover Cleveland be struck from the resolution and that of Robert E. Pattison, of Penn sylvania be substituted. Secretary of the Commonwealth Harrity, who was in the caucus as proxy for Charles J. Young, of the Fifth district, made a very politic Speech, in which lie declared that it would not do to push forward ( iover nor Pattison so long as Cleveland was a possibility The State Convention had instructed its delegation to vote for Cleveland, he said, and he insisted that those instructions should be car ried out to the letter.
