Philadelphia, Sept. 24. Lee Bo, a Chi
naman, aged forty, attempted suicide by

laundry. He will die. This Is said to be
the first case of a Chinaman attempting to
and his life tn this country. Iee Do has
been very melancholy because he could
not get his wife hare, and was tiunblu to

brought In a verdict of guilty of murder
in the second degree. The maximum pen
alty Is fourteen years. Mrs. Fitzaininiou'
face never changed a muscle as she heard
the verdict that will send her to the peni
tentiary. Killed by Dynumlta.

James Darling, while blaitting stumps
with dynamite, were instantly killed and
horribly mutilated by a premature (lis
sharge of the explosive.

destroyed. The loss is very heavy, mostly

An Insurance Company Assigns.
I. ANCA8TF.lt, Sept. 27. The Lancaster
County Mutual Live Stock and Chat
tel Theft Insurance company has made
an assignment for the benefit of its credi
tors. The assets of the compuuy him
f 10,1)00 In premium notes and the Indebt
edness about the same amount, which
will lie paid by an itssossmeut of the
policies, aggregating over half u million
dollars.
Clurk Found On I It.
FlTTSliUIlc, Sept. 24 The Jury In the
ca.se of Clark and Wyatt, indicted as ac
cessories to the murder of Detective Uilk
tuson, brought In their verdict during the
noou recese of court. The jury find Mr.
Clark guilty, disagree as to Mrs. Clark's
complicity and acquit Miss Wyutt. Mr.
and Mrs. Clark were remanded to jail, the
former for sentence, the latter for a new
trial. It Is now believed that Mr. and
Mrs. Clark rendered valuable assistance
to Fitzsimmous, the escaped murderer of
Detective Uilklnsou.

English champion, and T. C. McClellan,
of this city, ran a three mile footrace here
for 130 a side. McClellan won the by two

El2E, Sept. 23. Mrs. Henry Kcssler,
wlfo of a leading business man of this
city, was burned to death through a gaso
line accident. Mr. Kesslur. in trying to
save bis wife, was disfigured.
Long Tells Bis Side of the Case.
PlTTSHUUO, Sept. 29. Dr. W. C. Negus,
of Uiughamton, N. Y., came to Homestead
about ten days ago aud recovered bis seven-year-old
son from C. C. Long, The doctor
told a story that the lad was the son of a
Portland, Or., millionaire, and had been
kidnapped six years ago. Long now tells
his side of the caao. He says that some
years ago. while living at Klchburg, M. Y.,
he met and fell in love with the divorced
wife of Dr. Negus, And they were married,
and shortly afterward, with ber little boy,
removed to Homestead. Last March Long's
wife died, And when Dr. Negus beard of it
he became anxious to have his boy back.
So he came on to Homestead, saw Long
aud without any difficulty recovered the
little fellow.
