the Town Hall, Saturday evening at
ialf past seven o'clock for the purpose
if nominating persons to be voted for
it the election next Tuesday.
Mr. Krickbaum has introduced a
'lill providing for the acquirement of
:ontrol by the state ot timber lands
brming the water-shed of the streams
lowing into the Susquehanna river,
.'or the preservation of the timber.
This subject has been discussed for a
long time, and if the bill is in proper
shape it ought to pass.
The Scranton Times says that
Charles B. Snyder, formerly of the
Mlkes-Barre llecord and late proprie
tor of the Yonkers (N. Y. ) Herald,
tas returned to Wilkes-Barre, having
lisposed of the Yonkers paper. Rumor
nas had it that Mr. Snyder would es
tablish an evening penny paper in
Wilkes-Barre, and that E. A. Nevin
and M. E. Sanders, now on the Nanti
coke News, would be employed on
the edaunai start'.
