of assessors for three years, in the sev
eral boroughs and townships of this

Sechon 1. Me it enacted &c, That
the qualified voters of every borough
and township in the Commonwealth of
if ennsylvania, shall on tho third To.es
day of February.VAnnoDomini one thou
sand oignt Hundred and eighty-nine, and
tnenniaiiy tuereatter, voto for and
elect a properly qualified person for
assessor in each ot said districts, who
shall serve lor three years.
Section 2. When any borough has
been or shall be divided into wards,
or any township has been or shall bo
divided into election districts, the
qualified voters of each of such
wards, and each district of Buoh divid
ed township, shall severally elect, at
the time aforesaid, a properly qualified
person sa assessor ior saiu ward or
election district, who shall serve for
three yoars.
Section 3. Tho assessors elected
pursuant to tho provisions of this aot.
shall perform all the duties of assessors
under the laws ot this Commonwealth,
as well as those relating to elections,
as to the valuation of property, and
shall pake the triennial assess
ments in tho last year of their terms of
ouico.
Secti6n 4. Whenever the commis
sioners of any county shall, under ex
isting laws, appoint a person to fill tho
offico of assessor, such person shall
servo until tho next election for assess
ors, as provided by thU aot.
Section. 5. All laws inconsistent
herewith are hereby repealed.

namely: "That the fees to bo received
by witnesses, shall bo as follows, name

when the witness does not reside in nor
within one milo of tho county seat, sixty-two
