operation by Dr. Brown fully restored her

The Silk Mill Is now In operation. A

Mrs. Lizzlo N. Saudcr, wife of J. M.
Saudcr, Superintendent of tho Bloomsburg
Desk Factory, died at her home on Fifth
street Thursday of last week, aged forty-
four years six months 'and twenty-three
days. Bhe was a victim of that dread
disease, consumption with which Bhe had
long been a sufferer. Bhe leaves a family
of six young children to mourn her loss.
Funeral services wero held at the rest-
ienco Sunday afternoon, and the rcmainB
were taken to Uarrlsburg for interment
Monday.

A correspondent sends us the following
particulars ot tho death ot Mrs. John Kins
ley whoso deccaso occurred February 11:
Mrs. Ida Kinsley was u daughter of John
Roberts ot Jackson township. Bhe was 21
years six months r.ml 11 days old, and had
been married to Air. John Kinsley 51 days.
Tho circumstances connected with her
death aro as follows: She was visiting ber
brother near Asbury, and on tbe morn
ing of the 11th of February about eleven
o'clock Bho went upstairs to mako the beds;
ter sister-in-law went Into the cellar to get
potatoes for dinner and when sho came out
beard Ida glvo a scream and running up
stairs found her lying on tho bed on her
back; she raised her up but Mrs. Kinsley
only gasped twice and passed away.
Attempts wero mado by burglars Mon
day evening to burglarizo several of the
business places of this place. One of them
was captured in the rear of Keller's store,
whero ho was attempting to pry open tbe
door, by the night watchman, A. V. Hower,
who coon brought him to terms with tbe
aid of his revolver. Mr. Hower also saw
a suspicious character at I. W. Hartman's
and another at Lockards, but both escaped
him. llouscl's shoo storo was broken into
the samo night and the safe opened, but no
money obtained. Tho captured burglar
was taken before Bquiro Jacoby in the
morning for a bearing; and was bound over
to May court for trial. A number of
tramps who had been lodged In tbe lockup
the previous night were also taken lieroro
the soulre. and wero allowed to go on
condition that they would leave town.
On last Baturday evening at the invlta
tlon of William Yoit. a large number of
Grand Army Boys gathered at his real
denco on Catharine Street, and participate
ed in a sumptuous banquet of all tbe deli
cacics of tho season; It being the 08th annl
vcrsary of Nathan B. Fowler, his father-in
law, and a complete surprleo to mm
At tho samo time the Grand Army Uoys
presented their comrade Mr. Fowler with
a handeomo rocking chair, as. a token of
their esteem, In which we hope ho will
spend many happy hours, In bis declining
years, thinking of bis service in defenco of
bis country, and uls laliuiui comrades.
The banquet was prepared by the daugh
tfrs of Mr. Fowler, who displayed a know.

Tho election on Tuesday passed off quiet
ly in this towu. The chief contest was for
President of Council, until a movement
was commenced urging the name ot Joshua
Fcttcrmao as member of Council, and cast
leg 0 votes tor him; this caused a combi
nation of voters upon Fred Bchwlnn, and
largely Increased his vote to the detriment
ot both Hiram Palmer and Isaac E. lost.
There were 735 votes cost, against C52 votes
year agoand 947 at last fall's election. The

of his birth Is hardly definite. Mr. Cramer
on the eighteenth Inst on making a false
step on entering his house on Eighth street

was enjoying excellent health. That day
be said to his grand son ho wanted to go to
Nantlcoko and work in tho mlne3. For a
number of years past ho has been living
with bis daughter Mrs. John Cooper. In
early winter Mrs. Cooper died leaving at
her homo two daughters and tbreo sons
and a grand child, with their grand
father, who is now prostrato upon bis bed
id will probably bo nn object of kind and
charitable, consideration for tho remainder
of his days, which ho 1b greatly entitled to
bavo known him for twenty-flvo years for
which timohls hearing has been greatly
Impaired which makes it difficult to con
verse with him. I havo observed however
in those years in ray frequently visiting
him at bis son-in-law's that when other
members of the family coaso work to enter
tain a caller this old man would continue
to bend his back in industrious work and
seemed to perform as much as a stout man
of younger years.

Pursuant to adjournment council met at
o'clock p.m. All present. Iho follow
ing contract was presented and read: viz:
Agreement made and concluded this
day of A. D. 1889. Between tbe
town of Bloomsburg and the moomsuurg
Water Company, Wltnessetb:
Flnt. That tbe said Water Company
shall furnish water with sufficient pressure
for protection against tiro in tho said town
to tho fire hydrants placed and used there.
n at the rate of twenty dollars per annum
for each hydrant, payablo monthly at the
end of each month, proridtd hoxttver, that
when Iho number of hydrants placed and
used shall exceed flftv, the rate of pay
mcnt for each such hydrant In excess of
fifty shall bo ten dollars per annum, pay
able monthly In like manner as aforesaid.
All now fire hydrants to be furnished and
placed by the "or?n connected with tho
pioes by the Water Company at such
places as shall be designated by tho Town
Council under the conditions as to new by.
drants now existing. All flro hydrants
hall bo kept in repair, clean, free and
ready for use by tho Water Company. At
reasonablo time opportunity shall ho glveu
under tho direction ot the Town Council
for practice of tho Firo Companies. Tho
said Water Company to causo telephone
connection to be ma-'o between their
pumping station and tbe telephono ex
chanffc. wh ch shall communicate Willi
uch places as shall be designated and pro.
vided by the Town Council, to be kept
connected for flro alarm purposes, at all
times when tho telephone Exchange Is not
open. Tho cbargo ot the Telephone Com
pany for connection and itso between pump
ing sUtlou and tho Kxcuangu shall do paia
by the Water Company. Tho Town ot
Bloomsburg shall be at liberty to use tho
water of said company, necessary in tho
Improvement and work of the town with
out charge. The first clsuso may bo re.
voked under tho regulation of tho Water
Company. In reference to revocation of
water supply.

the Bloomsburg Water Company has
