Just, cqtial and boncflecnt-tho safeguard of lib

party has gained Its strength by quick and faith,

We, therefore, demand that tho Imposition of

dustrlesand protection to tho rights and wages of
the laborer, to tho end that nctlro and Intelligent
labor as well tut capital, may have Its Just reword,
and tho laboring man his full share In tho national
prosperity.
Against tho so-called economical Bystera of tho
remocratlo party, which would degrade our labor
tothoforclga standard, wo enter our earnest pro
test ; tho Dcraocratlo party has tailed completely
to rcllovo the people of the burden of unnecessary
taxation by a wise reduction of tho surplus.
Tho republican party pledges Itself to correct tho
Inequalities of tho tariff and to rcduco tho surplus,
not by the Indiscriminate process of horizontal re
duction, but by such methods as will relievo the
taxpayer without Injuring the laborer or the
great productive interests of tho country.
We recognize the Importance of sheep husband
ry In the United States, tho serious depression
which It is now experiencing and tho danger
threatening its future prosperity ; and we, there
fore, respect tho demands of the representatives of
this Important agricultural Interest for n re-ad
Justmentotduty upon foreign wool In vlow that
such Industry shall have full and ndequato protec
tion.
Wo have alwaj-s recommended tho best money
known to tho civilized world, and we urge that an
effort bo made tb unlto all commercial nations In
tho establishment of tho International standard,
which shall nx for nil the relative value of gold
and silver coinage.
The regulation of commerco with foreign nations
and between tho states Is one of the most Impor
tant prerogatives ottho general Government, and
the Republican party distinctly announces Its pur
pose to support such legislation as will fully and
etllclently carry out tho constitutional power of
Congress over lntcr-stato commerce. The princi
ple of the public regulation of railway corpora
tions Is a wise and salutary one for the protection
of all classes Of the people, and we favor leglsla
tlon that shall prevent unjust discrimination and
excessive charges for transportation, and that
shall secure to tho people and to tho railroads
alike tho fair and equal protection of the laws.
Protection to I.iilior.
We fato'r tho establishment of a national bureau
of labor, the enforcement of tho eight-hour law, a
wlso and Judicious system of general education by
ndequato appropriation from the national rovo-
nues wherever tho samo la needed.
We believe that everywhere tho protection to
citizen of American birth must bo secured to citi
zens by American adoption, and we favor tho set
tlement of national differences by International
arbitration.
The Republican party, having Us birth In a ha
tred of slave labor and In a desire that all men
may bo freo and equal, Is unalterably opposed to
placing our working-men In competition with any
form of scrvtlo labor, whether at home or abroad.
In this spirit wo denounce tho Importation of con
tract labor whether from Europe or Asia, as an
offence against the spirit of American Institutions,
and wo pledgo, ourselves to sustain the present
liw restricting Chinese Immigration, and to, pro
vide such further legislation as is necessary to
carry out Its purposes.
Civil Service Reform.
The reform of tho civil Bcrvlce auspiciously be
gun under Republican admlnls tratlon should b
completed by the further extension of the reform
system already established by law to all tho
grades of the service to which It Is applicable. The
spirit and purpose of the reform should be observ
ed In all executive appointments, and all laws at
variance wltn the objects of existing reformed
legislation should bo repealed, to the end that the'
dangers of free Institutions which lurk In tho pow
er of official patronago may-bo wisely and effect
ively avoided.
Tho public Unls are a heritage of tho peoplo' of
tho United States and should bo reserved as far as
possible for small holdings by actual settlers. Wo
aro opposed to the acquisition of largo tracts of
theso land3 by corporations or Individuals, espec
ially where such holdings are In tho hands of lion
resident aliens, and we will endeavor to obtain
such legislation as will tend to correct this evil.
We demand of Congress tho speedy forfeiture of
all land grants which have lapsed by reason of
non-compllanco with acts of Incorporation, and In
all cases where there has been no ntempt In good
faith to perform the condition of such grants.
Tho grateful thanks of tho American peoplo aro
due to tho Union soldiers and sailors of tho late
war, and the Republic an party stands pledged to
Bultable pensions to all who were disabled and for
tho widows orphans of those who dlod la tho
war. The Republican party pledges Itself to tho
repeal of the limitation contained In the Arrears
act of 1879, so that all Invalid ,soidlers shall bharo
alike, and their pensions shall begin with tho dato
of disability or discharge and not with the date 1 of
the application.
RcirnrdlMir a Korelif u Policy.
The Republican party favors a policy which
shall keep us from entangling alliances with for
eign nations, and which shall give the right to ex
pect that foreign nations shall retrain from med
dling In America, and the policy which seeks peace
can trade with all powers, but especially with
those of the Western' Hemisphere. We demand
the restoration of our navy to Its old-time strength
and efficiency, that It may In any sea protect the
rights of American citizens and tho Interest of
American commerce, and we call upon Congress to
rcinovo tho burdens under which American ship
ping has been depressed, so that it may again bo
truo that we havo a commerce which leaves no sea
unexplored, and a navy which takes no law from
superior forco.

The peoplo of the United Status In their organiz
ed capacity constltuto a nation and not a mere
confederacy of states. The National Government
Is supreme within tho Bphera of Us national
duty, but the states havo reserved rights which
should bo fully maintained ; each should be guard

system of government may be preserved and the

Methodist-Episcopal church, residing
at Watertown, N. Y. lie said :
"My 'Wife became completely run
down through overwoik and care of a
sick member of our honsel old, and I
entertained seiious apprehensions as to
her future. Shu was languid, pale, ut
terly exhausted, without apiietite, and
in a complete slate of physictal decline.
And yet she dhrnot, could not neglect
her duties. I havo seen her about tho
house, trying courageously to caro for
tho ones she loved when I could toll,
from tho lines upon her face how much
sho was suffering. Attiuies she. would
rally for a day or two and then fall
back into tho stale of nervous exhaus
lion sho felt before. Her head pained
her frequently, her body was becoming
bowed by pain and all hope or enjoy
ment in lifo seomed departed. What
to do wo could not tell. 1 resolved,
however, to bving back her lifo and vi
tality if possible and to this end began
to treat her myself. To my great ro
lief her system has been toned up, her
strength restored, her health complete
ly recovered and wholly by tho uso of
Warror's Tippecanoe, which I regard
as the greatest tonic, invigorator and
stomach remedy that has over been
discovered. I was led to use it tho
more readily as I had tested the health-
restoring properties of Warner's Safo
Cure in my owti person and I therefore
knew that any remedy Mr. Warner
might produce would bo a valuable one.
I havo since recommendpd both Wnr
ncr'q Tippecancie and Warner's Safe
Curo to many of my friends and I
know seveial Doctors of Divinity as
well as numerous laymonwho arousing

If all tho overworked and duty dri
ven women of America could know of
tho experience abovo described, and act
upon tho same, therocan be little doubt
that much of the pain, and most of the
depressing influences of life might bo
avoided. Such truths are too valuablo
to remain unknown.

Sulphur lor Stock.
An English correspondent puts about
two ounces of sulphurous acid into a
quart botttlo of water, and gives a ta
blespoonitu ot tins dilution three tunes
per day to cattlo suffering with foot
and mouth disease. In addition to
this, ho bums a little sulphur three
times a day in the stable in whioh the
animal is kept. He moistens the' feet
also with the abovo solution with a
sponge. Ouo mint bo careful not to
use sulphuric acid for sulphurous acid,
as tho former would be hurtful in this
case, instead of cm alive. Uurniug sul
phur in tho stables of healthy cattlo
once a week, he thinks, would ward off
disease.
I havo long been in the habit of giv
ing a neapuiL' teaspoontul ot sulphur
for this purpose to my horses and cows
onco a week, in a mess of meal; also to
largo swine; to full grown sheep about
halt this quantity ; to lambs and pigs
less, grading it according to si.e and
atro. For poultry onco a week I mix
sulphur witli their pudding, at the rate
of a heaping tcaspoonful of tho former
to a gallon ot the latter. Tins keeps
them freo of lice, unless they aro much
exposed to tho parasites on their roosts
or otherwise. Sulphur in moderate
doses, ana not given too olten, is
healthful, and a guard against various
diseases and vermin.
A simple method of burning it is on
a sup of cardboard, or extra stout pa
per. a foot lone; and two or three inch
es wide. Scatter sulphur on ono end
of this, light tho paper and then move
it about tno cattlo in thu stable. Ho
very1 careful ti set nothing on lire' when
doing this. In otder to guard from
lire, if litter is in the stable, it should
be removed previous to lighting tho
sulphured papor. A safer way, how
over, would ho to put some p'iper m a
hollow dish or pan with a handle to it
to take hold of and move about.-iV. I
