The Red Astrakhan Arm:. Ono
of the earliest and most reliable apples
in Pennsylvania is the Red Astrachan,
and its good quallitics are well recogni
zed in many other States. It was first
imported into England with the Whito
Astrichan, from Sweden, in 1816. Of
good size, extraordinary beauty and
having the singular bloom of tho plum,
it forms ono of our handsomest dessert
fruits. Tho quality is fair, but if left
upon the treo too long it becomes dry
and mealy. It is a rapid grower, uni
versally hardy, an early and abundant
bearer ; and theso good qualities alone
mako it a general favorite and no farm
or garden should bo without one or
moro trees. As wo havo several times
said, it is ono of tho fow sorts which
may bo relied on to give a crop of ap
