At nn early hour on Friday morning
last, an attempt was made to blow up
tho residence of Mr. Merkcl, a prominent
coal operator at Mincrsville. A large

Last Friday a blast was set near New
Chicago, on tlio lino of the Northern
Pacific Railroad, in which two hundred

then went off, hurling great quantities
of rock and the five men into tho river.
