A loaded canal boat belonging to the Susque hanna Coal Co., was carried over the Nantl coke dam on Friday afternoon. It was in tow of the steam tug when It became unmanageable and the tug cut loose and saved Itself. The boat passed over the dam diagonally and was not much injured. Two men, named Fox and Carter were upon it when it passed over. It will be unloaded and floated to Northumber land and put into the canal. There were two boats attached to tho tug, one of which was manned in a masterly manner by young Kucli of Berwick, who managed to land his boat a short distance above the dam, Record of the Times . Ihe result will be over 5300 EASTER SERVICES. At St. Paul's Episcopal church the ser vices on EistPr day were of the Usual beautiful and interesting character. An early service was held at six o'clock which was largely at tended. Tho service consisted of morning pray er up to Ihe Litany. At half past ten oMock the remainder cf the morning services was read, with sermon, and Holy Communion. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers, and the sentence "Christ the Lord ha" risen in deed" was stretched across the frunt of the chan cel. An exquisite floral mound surmounted the baptismal font, anil hanging baskets wure suspended in the arches of the ceiling. The music at these two services was excellent, under the direction of Prof, Hoffman. In the evening the Sunday school held their Easter celebration, and presented their offer- ngs. The Easter Services at the Lutheran Church on Sunday last were unusually interesting. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and newly carpeted with Brussels Carpet. Forty-seven persons were received Into ihe Church by Confirmation. An appropriate and ably delivered sermon was given by Itev. II. iegler, D. D.
