We have in our sanctum a lump of coal ta ken from the Witts farm near Jerseylown. The specimen shown us has a dill appearance, and looks more like slate than coal, but as we do not know a great deal about coal except the price per ton, we cannot say but that this Is just the kind of a lump that indicates a large deposit. Governor Iteigh ard was dumbfounded, District Attorney Hart looked as solemn as if he had jtint relumed from the funeral of a dear friend, and Colonel Rankin acted as if he would rather be selling coal than mingling with such bold political baccaneers. Finding that the Columbians were not only defiant, but riholvcd not to yield, Ihe Lycoming delegation, after skirmishing two days, gracefully retired, and uniting with Mou tour elected Mr. Hart senatorial delegate. Co lumbia and Sullivan checkmated them bv choosing Mr. Lowenberg, and now in all proba bility we f-ball see a double-barrcltd dekcalion from this district moving i n Pittsburg, unless Colonel Tate succeeds, with his little "cider cordial" bottle, In restoring peace and haruio' nv Since the above was put in type a report of the proceedings f the conference has come to hand, from which it appears that the Lycom ing and Montour conferees openly and boldly seceded from Ilia conference, set up a little con federacy of their own, and declared Mr. Hart elected.
