Orvi, A. C. Smith, John Sterner, Eiecutive
Committee. As the organization is secret, we
cannot Inform our readers as to details. From
a circular before us we learn that a County
Convention has been called to meet here on
Tuesday, April 16th. As a matter of interest
to Democrats it may be as well to state that tin
der the Democratic rules no man can vote at
our Delegate elections who has not supported
tho Democratic party at tho eloctions of the

reported that the building for which n permit
was asked is nearly up, nnd that the com
mittee had no recommendation to make to the
council as to the propriely of granting a permit,
and Mr. Drinker made a motion, seconded by
Mr. Evans that the permit be granted. The
question being put as to whether a permit should
be granted it was decided in the affirmative.
It was decided to retain the room used at
present as a council chamber for the next year
at a rental of -10,

at $50. For Solicitor Mr. Drinker named C,
O. Barkley, Mr. Sharplesa named J. B. Kobl
son, Mr. Itabb named II. C. Smith. A vote
was taken, when Evans, Sl.arpless, Kibb nnd
Herring voted for P.obison, nnd Drinker,
Holmes and Elwell voted for Barkley, and Mr.
Ilobison was declared elected, -1 to 3.
Mr. Elwell moved that the compensation of
Street Commissioner be one iKIIar per day, Mr.
Drinker seconded the motion. Mr. Kabli nnd
Mr. Sharpless moved that the motion be amend
ed by making the pay SI. 75 per day. A vole
was taken when Rabb, Sharpless and llening
voted for the amendment, Holme, Elwell, Drin
ker and Evans voled nay. So the amendment
was not agreed to. Mr. Drinker amended the

The merciful man is merciful to his beast
