M t. V. Cooley of Wllkcsbarre spent a fen
days In town this week visiting his old acquaintance:!.
On Sunday evening nn nccldent occurred a
short dlstanco below Espy, which resulted In
tho killing of a horse. As Mr. Strauss, of Cen
tre, was driving along at n customary gait he
saw two buggies approaching him driving at a
frightful rate. Ho tried to turn out but tho
driver of the approaching buggy pulled in tho
same direction and collided with him. The

looks as gay and Inndsomo as of yore and was
warmly greeted by his many friends hero. Dur
ing the evening ho was waited upon at his ho

IS. Mcllenry, whoso arm had been amputated
at the shoulder, notue ra nth' since. It is prop
er to add : that his sudden death is not believ
ed lo have resulted directly or indirectly, from
the amputation. The shoulder healed up rapi
dly, and, at the lime of his death, there wa. not
the slightest inflammation or other symptom of
liease in the wound. The death seems to have
occurr d from a rheumatic affection, which sud
denly seated itself upou the heart, and caused
the death almost instantly after it became loca
led there.
