havo pursoually proved to bo efllclont
in restoring a healthy growth of hair
on tho tails and niutioa of horses. Cor
rosivo sublimato (blchlorido), oxymu
riato of mercury, each four grains in
ono ounco .or distilled water. Wash
tho parts whero tho hair is thin with
warm wator and soap, then rub dry
with a linen cloth, and immediately af
ter rub in soruo of tho abovo llnlmont.
If tho hair has been rubbed off by tho
animal's own endeavors to allay cuta
neous irritation, thon dress with the
following ointment : Ono ounco or lino
flour sulphur, ono ounco of pulvorlzod
saltpetre, mado Into a sort ointment
with fresh rendered hog's lard ; rub In
at night and wash In tho morning with
warm wator and soap ; repeat throo
or four times, If tho hair Is scant from
natural debility of tho capillary organs,
then simply uso cold water applied
with a soft spongo ;Iavoid all combing
or brushing, and clean tho mano
nud talc, as tho Arabs do, with a coarso
