two coats (as tho leather may need) of
lampuinck ana castor oil, warmod stir
ilclonlly to mako 11 ponolrato tho stock
raidlly. Thon I mako about two uuartfl
of warm soap Buds, and with a spongo
wnsu tlio harness. Whon dry, rub It
over with a mixture of oil and tallow.

process of washing. When leather 1
permitted to alworb water or soap,tl has
an uiumato tondency to harden It
"When tho harness is washed first (as Is
generally tho case,) tho water ropcls

you havo tho oil inside of tho stock.and
in uio omer you navo tlio soap and wn
ter. Hy oiling first, it softens tho dirt
so that It can bo washed off in at least
ono-hidftho tlmo required when washed
Icroro oiling, and also saves tho scrap
ing process, which defaces tho grain of
tho leather. It will romaln soft much
longer from tho fact of its being peno
t rated with oil. Tho whole process can
bo accomplished without tho delay of
waiting for It to dry. Consequently tho
harness can ho oiled in much less time,
will remain soft longer, wear longer,
nnd look bettor than whon cloancd by
tho old method. And I consldor theso
reasons of sufficient importanco for
every ono having a harness to glvo this
method a fair trial."

which Is commended for kcoplng leath
er soft, and giving it a good polish, 13
raado by dissolving together ovor a
Blow firo throo ounces of turpontino,
lwo ounces of whlto waxjtlion add ono
ounco of Ivory black and ono drachm
of indigo, to bo well pulverized and
mlxod together. When tho wax and
iurpentlno aro dissolved, add tho ivory
black and indigo, and stir till cold. Ap.
ply very thin and brush afterwards.

and froths at tho mouth, then staggors
and falls as if in a fit. After remaining
in that stato for a timo it rocovers.but at
3ast tho symptoms prove fatal. Somo
pigs forco their noses against tho wall,
or into a corner, but tho symptoms aro
always nearly tho samo. Tho dlsoaso,
which is popularly termed staggors, in
medical parlanco Is called epilepsy. It
depends usually upon tbo imperfect nu
trltion of tho brain and nervous sys
tern, In pigs, aa well as In other animals,
epilepsy is ofton herodltary. Frequently
It is dovelopod by brooding In-and-in.

Inches apart, being shorter as It ap

Inserted at Jntorvals, which keeps It up
bo the air circulates through. It can bo
cured so as to mako it fresh and swoet

good food for milch cows and stock of

Tho poor boy did not fuel very com

Mr. Jones was fairly won. Nover

A Sharp Detective.
A Madrasso had a monkey which ho
was very fond of. Tho man had occa
sion to go on a Jouvnoy, urul tool! With
him monoyaud Jowels, and his chum,

to rob him of everything ho had ; ac
cordingly thoy lay in wait for him, and
murdered him. Having secured tho
monoy and Jowols, thoy throw tho mur
dered man into a dry woll, and having
covered it up with twigs and dry leaves,
they wont home. Tho monkey who
was on tho top of a tree, saw the whole
of tho proceedings, and when tho mur
derers departed, ho camo down and
mado tracks for tho Tahslldar's house,
and by his cries and moans attracted
tho attention of that functionary. In
viting tho Tahslldar, by dumb signs, to
follow him, tho monkey went to tho
woll, and pointed downwards. Tho
Tahslldar thoreupon got men to go
down, and of courso tho body was dis
covered. Tho monkey thon led tho
men to tho placo whoro tho Jowols and
monoy wero buried. Ho thon took
thorn to tlio bazaars, and as soon as ho
caught sight of ono of tho murderers
ho ran after him, bit him in tho leg,
and would not lot him go till ho was
soeured. In this way all tho murderers
wero caught. Tho mon, It Is said, havo
confessed their crlmo, and thoy now
stand commlttod for trial boforo tho
Tclllchorry court at tho onsulng session .
