E KIDNEYS.
Tho Kidneys arc two In number, situated at
the upper part of the loin, surrounded by fat,
and consisting of tlireo parts, viz,.- tho Anterior,
the Interior, and the Exterior,
Tho anterior absorbs, Interior consists of tis
sues or veins, which servo as n deposit for the
urlno and Convey It to the exterior. The exter
ior is a conductor also, terminating In a single
tube, and called tho Ureter, Tho ureters are
connected with tho bladder.
The bladder Is composed of various coverings
or tissues, divided Into parts, vbs.t tho Upper
tho Lower, tho Nervous, and tho Mucous. Tho
upper expels, the lower retains. Many havo n
destre to urinate without tho ability; others
urlnalo without tho ability to retain. This fre
quently occurs In children.
To curetbeso affections, we must bring Into
action the muscles, which are engaged In their
various functions. If thoy aro neglected, Gravel
or Dropsy may ensue.
Tho reader must nlso bo made awaro, that
however slight may bo tho attack, 11 Is sure to
affect tho bodily health and mental powers, as
our flesh and blood aro supported from these
sources,
Gout, Or Rheumatism. Pain occurring In tho
loins Is Indicative of thenbovo diseases. They
occur In persons dlsposod to acid stomach and
chalky coi""-ctlons.
The Gravel. Tho gravel ensuea from neg
lect or Improper troatment of tho kidneys
Those organs being ,weakvtho water is not ex
pelled from tho bladder, hut nllowed to remain s
It becomes feverish, and sediment forms. Ills
from this deposit that the stone Is formed, and
gravel ensues.
Dropsy is a collection of water In somo parts
of the body, nnd bears different names, accord
ing to tho rarts nireclcd, viz.: when generally
diffused over the body, it is called Anasarca,
when of the abdomen, Asoites; when of tho
chest, Hydrothorax.
Treatment. Hclmbold's highly concentrated
compound Extract Buchu Is decidedly one of
tho best remedies for diseases of tho bladder,
kidneys, gravel, dropsical swellings, rheuma
tism, and gouty affections. Under this head wo
have arranged Dysurln, or difficulty and pain in
passing water, Scanty Secretion, or small and
frequent discharges of water; Strangury, or
stopping of water ; Hematuria, or bloody urine ;
Gout and Rheumatism of tho kidneys, without
any change In quantity, but Increase in color.or
dark water. It was always highly recommend
ed by the lato Dr. Physick, In these affections.
This medlclno increases tho power of diges
tion, nnd excites tho absorbents Into healthy
exercise by which tho watery or calcareous dep
ositions, and all unnatural enlargements, as
well as pain nnd Inflammation aro reduced, nnd
It Is taken by men, women, and children. Di
rections for use and diet accompany.

II. T. IIelmbold, Druggist:
Dear Sir I liave been n sufferer, for upward
of twenty years, with gravel, bladder, and kid
ney affections, during which tlmo I havo used
various medicinal preparations, and been under
the treatment of the most eminent rhyslcians
experiencing but llttlo relief.
Having seen yonr preparations extensively
advertised, I consulted with my Jamlly physi
cian In regard to using your Extract Buchu.
I did this because I had used all kinds of ad
vertised remedies, and had found them worth
less, nnd, some qulto injurious ; In fact, I despair
ed of ever setting well, nnd determined to uso
no remedies hereafter unless I knew of tho in
gredients. It was this that prompted mo to use
your remedy. As you advertised that It was
composed of buchu, cubebs, and Juniper berries,
It occurred to me and my physician as an excel
lent combination, and, with his advice, after an
examination of thearllcle, nnd consultingagaln
with the druggist, I concluded to try It. I com
menced Its use about eight months ago, at which
tlmo I was couilnedto my room. From thoflrst
bottle I was astonished and gratified at the ben
eficial effect, and after using It three weeks, was
able to walk out. I felt much Uko writing you
n full statement oi my case at that time, but
thought my improvement might only be tern
porary, and therefore concluded to defor and see
if It would effect a perfect cure, knowing then It
would bo of greater value to you and more sat
isfactory to mo.
I am now able to report that a cure Is effected
after using the remedy for five months.
I have not used any now for three months,
and feel as well In all respects as I ever did.
Your Bdchu being devoid of any unpleasant
taste and odor, n nice tonlo and invlgorator ol
the system, I do not mean to be without It when.
ever occasion may require Its use In such anec
