trlbuto of respect and commemoration
was paid tho noblo nnd heroic (lend of
tho vicinity, who died that thcircountry
might live. Extcnslvo preparations
having been made, it only remained to
havo the programmo properly executed
in order that ontiro success might crown
their efforts.
At one o'clock p. m. the procession
formed on South street, tho right resting
on Second street, In tho following order:

Citizens.
Tho procession, headed by tho Cata
wissa Brass Band, marched to tho Ocr
man Reformed Graveyard, where it
was formed in a circle, nnd prayer was
offered up by tho Rov. Mr. Rico, at the
closo of which tlio littlo decorators, who
wero beautifully clad in whito, per
formed the strewing and beautifying of
tho graves, while tho band played a
dirge. From thenco the- parade proceed
ed to tho Friend's Grave-yard, and
after prayer by tho Rev. Mr. Bowman,
tho samo coromonics wero performed.
Tho procession then repaired to St.
Matthow's Lutheran Church, where tho
exorcises wero opened with prayor by
Rev; D. Beckner, after which Rev.
Thomas II. Cullen was introduced, and
delivered a very excellent and appro-
riato address, which was attentively
listened to and highly appreciated by
tho irnmonso auditory congregated to
hear him.
Too much praise and credit cannot be
given to tho young ladies of Calawifsu
for tho part thoy took and interest they
manifested in perfecting the exercises.
The solicitation of flower contributions
wo cheerfully and heartily responded
to by them, and their labor in nrrang
ing tho flowers in bouquets and wreaths
was incessant.
Tho wholo affair was u success, mid
will long bo remembered by tho partic
ipants as tho Initiatory to what here
nftor should bo a pleasant duty to be
