who originally arreted the Stonerstown tres

idly forward. It is rumored that it will take
six or eight months to take out these ap
proaches : this cannot be the case it all the
bands are worked upon it that can be. if
the contractor does aat see to. pushing the
work there Is no telling when it will be eom
pieceti. as we are quite sure that the company
is in no hurry.

The other general route, diverging aear
the foot of Dry Ridge, follows up the val

Wffl's -reek, to Bridgeport, and thence up
Bit Wiffj creek to a junction with the pre
ceding route: thence west, the general rente
passes throneh Sand Patch summit, by
mean* of a tunnel about 4f">o feet long
and follows down Flaugherty run to where
it empties into the (Jaeeiman river at. Mey
ers' Mills, ami thence down the vallev of
-seiman to the mouth at Buffalo Lick
creek, thence connecting with the Deeter
summit route. To Conneilsviile, the route
still follows down the vailev of the Cassels
tnan. tn and down that of rhe Youghioghe
av river, formula generally a vailev line.
The total distance from Mr. Dallas, by
way of the I Iff feet grade mote to Deeter i
-utumit, aud thence to ConneibviUe, will he
about 'Jfij miles.
