    DIED.
On the morning of Feb-nary 12,1861, after a few
doyg illness, Mis. ELIZA COLVIS. in the 731 yeai of
bt-r Hge-
Sin- was born in 17F8, married in 1804, and war
the staler of Charles McDowell.
Sin; was the mother ot ten children, fifty one
grand children, and font great er.vnd children, roost
„f wlmm were present >t her funeral.
She joined tbe Presbyterian church in Bedford,
in lt*Cß, and has lived a consistent member ever
since.
She resided in Schcllshnrg about 28 years, during
which time she gamed many warm friends, who can
truly sympathize with her lajreaved children.
Respectfully Inscribed to her Chil
dren.
Sons and d iught rs of ona mother,
We're bereft of that dear friend ;
God h. claimed the son! forever,
Which our childhood did defend.
And, we trust, in bis rich mercy
He Ims borne her to tho skies ,
Where, attended by his unguis,
Sounds of sorrow ue'er shall rise.
Tes, cur mother, we shall mis* tho,
When thou'rt laid beneath the sod;
And our eyes shall ne'r behold thee,
When tiiou'rt in the land of God.
But. the I lest assurance whispers.
That rhy i>te was such a one,
Thai the angels homeward led thee,
Trusting in thy Father's Son.
And. when years have floxtod by us,
To the endless sea of time,
And temptations hard have tried u,
XX'e sliiil meet thee in that clime,
If we but our Saviour's warning
Heed, wiiilxt it is called to day,
And in life's I rigbt sunny morning,
Meokl.v seek bis grace ulwxy.
Oh! then draw ns closer to him,
Fix our hopes upon his love ;
Hunitdy. in his word believing,
We stia.l aii meet her above,
Where, with hymns aud sweetest anthems,
We shall sing forever nuore
To the Lord, who brought us hither,
And our own great Go 1 aloro.
