MACARONI Cheese, Crackers, crystalized fruit and gum candies, for sale by A. L. DEFIBAUGH, July 20, 1860, Scrofula, or King's Evil, is a constitutional disease, a corruption of the Howl, by which this lluid becomes vitiated, weak, and poor. Being in the circulation, it prrvadis the whole liocly, and may burst out in disease on any part of it. No orgau is free ir< m its ;tacks, nor is there one whtch it may not destroy. The scrofulous taint is variously caused by mercurial disease, low living; dis ordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. What ever lie its origin, it is hereditary in the con stitution, descending " from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation indeed, it seems to be the rod cf Ilim who 6ays, •' I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children." Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is termed tubercles; in the glands, swellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul cor ruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the ouergies of life, so that scrofulous constitu tions not only suffer from scrofulous com plaints, but tbev have far less power to with stand the attacks of other diseases; conse quently, vast numbers perish by disorders which, a!though not scrofulous in their nature, arc still rendered fata) by this taint in the system. Most of the consumption which de cimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamination; and many destr ictivc tlissssSfof the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous; their persons are invaded by this lurking in fection, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it from the system we must renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and in v.gorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we supply in AYE ITS Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effectual rcmedv which the medical skill of our tunes can devise for this every whore prevailing and fatal malady. It is com bined iron* the most active remedial:? that hava been di. covered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the fvs'cm from its destructive consequences, llence it should be employed for the cure of not only scrofula, but also those other affoc tirris which urife from it, such as EHUPTIVB mid Sai.v DISEASES, ST. Read the the following : Oak Grove, S. C. June 24, 1869. PBOF. O. J. WOOD: Dear Sir :—Your Hair Re storative is rapidly gaining popularity in this com munity. 1 have had occasion to lay prejudice aside, and give your Hair Restorative a perfect test: — During the year 1864, I was so unfortunate as to be tlirown from my sulky against a rock near the roadside, from which my head received a rooci terrible blow; causing a great deal of irritation, which communicated to the brain and external surface of the bead, from the effects of which my hair was finally destroyed over the entire surface of the head. From the time I first discovered its dropping, however, up to the time of its total dis appearance, I employed everything I could think of, being a professional man myself, and, as I thought, understanding the nature of the disease, but was final] > defeated in every prescription ad vanced. Tntse and no other circumstances induced mo to resort to your worthy Hair Restorative, which I have every reason to believe, produced a very hap py result: two months after the first application, 1 had as beautiful a head of youeg hair as I ever saw, for which I certainly owe you ray most sincere thanks. Rest assured, dear sir, I shall recommend your remedy to *.ll inquirers; moreover, 1 shall uso my influence, which 1 flatter myself to say, is not a little. You cam publish this if you tbiuk proper. Yours, very respectfully. M. J. WRIGHT, M. D.
