Sworn statement of David McGreary, of Napier

1 111 April, 1856. as near as I can remember, a j
small pimple made its appearance on my upper lip, ,
which soon became enlirged and sore. I nse.l
[loltices of soirel, and a wash of bluej vitriol, with
out effect. Finding the sore extending, I called on
Dr.Elv, of Scliellsburg, who pronunnced it CAN
CER, and proscribed a wash of sugar of lead and
bread poultices. Fimling these remedies of no
avail. I called upon Dr. Shaffer, of Davidsrille,
| Somerset counts, who also pronottneed the disease
1 Cancer, and gave mo internal and external remedies
| the latter consisting principally ofcaustie; but
all to no purpose, as the disease continued spread 1
ing tow ir 1 the nose. 1 next use i 1 preparation .it !
arsenic, in the forui ol salve. Ibis for a time
checked the disease, but the inflamation soon it;-.
; creased. I next called upon Dr. Stall r of St.
(Jlairsvlile, Bedford county, who alio pronounced
i the disease Cancer, and applied a salve said to be a
never failing remedy, but it had no effect whatever
l in checking the spread ot the sort*. In December,
i of the same year, th ) diseaae had eaten away a ,
great el part of my upper lip, and hii attacked toe
nose, when I 'Vent to Cincinnati, where I consulted
1 Prof. U.S. Newton, of the E lectio Medical College.
He pronounced the disease ; * ;1 cutaneous Cancer,

He applied ntUd zinc ointment, and gave intern d
temedies. Mv face healed up. but the ii.fi utiatioti
was not tlio.-uuglily removed. In Febuary, 185 .
he pronounced me cured, and I L'lt for home. In
April the disease again i\turned and so violent was
the jsiin that I could not rest at night. Lite in
.May I relumed to Cincinnati, and again placed
myself under the charge of Dr. Newton, with whom
I remained until September, during which time be
used cverv known remedy, ami partly succeeded in

' tl.erc were still three dischirging ulcers upon my
face. I continued using NLwton's preparations,
and also medicine that I got fri.m Dr. Ely, but the
C'nc. r continue! growing until it liid eit off the
left side of my nose, the greater portion of my left
cheek. Ultd had attacked my left eye. I had given up
j all hope of ever being cured ; since Dr. Ely said he
j could oi.lv give relief; but that a cur. was imp s
sille. In March, 1858, I bought a bottle of -Blood
Sccarcher,' but I must confess that I had no faith
in it. I was Very weak when 1 comiiv-iieed taking
| it; but I found that 1 gained strength day by day.
j and also that the ulcers commenced drying up. 1
i continued, and when the third bottle was taken fny
