A Fatal Accident.—Last Wildno9- day afternoon an accident of a very dis tressing character occurred .at Freedom, this county. About two o'clock an. old gentlertian named John Mongol , was walking along one of the tracks when he saw . a passenger train approaching ; to avoid it, he stepped to the other track, not observing that a freight :train was coming froth tho opposite direction. The engineer of - the freight saw the Oc4ioa and whistled down . brates but the train could not ho. checked in time and the man was knocked down and _hoiribly mangled. When picked up life was found to be extinct. raising. Deceased was about seventy•nine years of age, and resided a few miles out from Freedom.
